2/8 Caught 21 fish. Biggest 4.5 lbs. All others solid 2 & 3 pounders that pulled like their on steriods! Majority caught on Zoom W/S trick worms. Three caught on Rapala jerk bait. Could not get bit on anything else.

2/9 Caught 19 fish. Biggest 3.9 lbs. Six dinks, all others 2-3 lbs. Same baits as 2/8.

Dress warm, mornings were very cold! Saw some schooling fish in the afternoon on 2/9. Threw everything in the tackle box at them and could not get bit-frustrating as heck! Found out what happened to all the grass-Talapia! Would hate to think Power Plant company or TX. Fish and Game had anything to do with them getting in the lake. Saw a fella loading cast net after cast net full of them in the discharge area. Afraid they are permanetly established and will have a negative impact on a great Bass fishery.

Tilapia have been in that lake for years, during the winter, when the water is cold, you can load the boat with a cast net or by snagging them in the discharge area. They are an excellent food source for the bass and are probably one of the reasons the fish there are so healthy. You are correct in the fact that they do eat plants, so due to their large and increasing numbers, it would be feasible that they are doing a number on the aquatic vegetation at Fayette.

Keep in mind that that if you happen catch a tilapia, it is considered an invasive species, so it's illegal by state law to release the fish back into the water alive. You must either keep it or gut it before returning it to the lake.

What areas of the lake were you working? If you dont want to be too specific and give up your spots that's fine. I've only been about 3 times and I am still trying to figure out the lake.

Fish those areas where you see them catching tilapia, the bass are there. Wed I caught a 5.5 and a 4 right before a guy pulled up and started throwing a cast net in front of me. I figured he needed that spot worse than me so I left.

horseplaydvm-I believe we saw/spoke with you briefly late Wed. afternoon in the discharge area. I was in a red Nitro 901 CDX.

Just wondering where the tilapia are I tried the throw net in several places in the discharge area and got nothing. Any tips on where to find them?

The fella with the net was slay'in the Talapia in the cove along the left side of the discharge. The cove with the old dock pilings sticking up out of the water.
