After being with U-verse from the very first day of being offered in my neighborhood, I have told them bye-bye. I put up with years of abuse from their customer service, ghost problems that wasted many hours of my life on the phone, with mystery fixes. But the straw that broke the camels back was their billing. How is it that I switch to a lower channel package, and still end up paying the same exact amount as before. Well, actually I do know, they put on there a $20 "how dare you try to pay less for your viewing package." So I called them up yesterday and told them to shove it. I tried to pee on the phone to show that rep my displeasure, but couldn't pee around my beer belly.
So I will be going ou naturale, bunny ears and Netflix. I will also be switching my internet, but I have to make sure I already have that in place before cancelling that. Since I work from home.
One thing that I found interesting was that the guy on the phone did not even try to find out why I was cancelling my service. I mean I know its only a mere $1,800.00 per year from little old me. But I guess there are plenty of others falling over themselves to pay up.

Oh they will be calling. Takes them a little while to realize you dropped them like a bad habit. They will be begging you back!! I have had several companies act like they dont care then call the next week to see what they can do to get you back..

I had the exact same problem with their billing. I dropped the wireless internet and they hadn't taken it off my bill for 3 months. When I stopped paying after the first month, they shut off my internet and cable. They told me I had to pay the 2 months of overcharges and they would credit me on the next bill. I told them I was not going to pay them the overcharges because it was their fault. They explained that if I did not pay the 2 months of overcharges that my service would be kept off and NEVER turned back on. Needless to say....THEY WILL NEVER GET A DIME FROM ME AGAIN!!! So much for customer service.

We switched to them and I went back to Directv in less than one month. I couldn't believe the hack job they did in my attic. I was at work when they did it or I would have socked that dude in the face for what he did up there.

I thought I was the only one. I had Dish Network installed two days ago. I got tired of having to reset the boxes every day to watch tv. Over the two years I had it we had to have a tech out 21 times. Not once did anyone from AT&T apologize for their lousy service.

I had the problem with the TV freezing up. ALWAYS at the end of a movie or ball game. They sent me a new box....and wanted to charge me $250 for the replacement box. I have never seen such horrible service.

it's not the fact that the customer service is poor... it's the fact that it's outsourced overseas to a person who probably HATES Americans... thus they dont care if they overcharge you, or not credit your account for the equipment returned with proof of delivery. When a person in customer service has no "Care" about the customer, well... it defeats the whole meaning behind "customer care".

My experience with U-verse has been somewhat better. two or three years now at least. TV, Phone and Internet. The cost sucks, buts its all expensive. The install was great. A little sweet talk and I got the additional drops I needed for free.

We had direct TV, and it would go out at the first sign of rain. Went to dish and lasted about 2 weeks and told them to shove it, everything kept going out.

With ATT, every now and then some of the wireless devices lose connection, and you have to reset. I have a box that is bad and need to replace, ( remote jacks up ) so we will see what happens when I do that.

I guess I'm one of the few 'U-Verse fanboys'. I miss it terribly. Out where I live, I'm forced to use either Dish or DirecTV (we use the latter). I absolutely hate the old technology of DirecTV, the inferior picture quality, and its slow response. Their customer service SUCKS. We recently upgraded boxes to try and fix one of our problems and the tech that came out insisted on running new cable. As he was fishing the new cable in the wall, he somehow managed to break the phone cable and the CAT-5 cable in the middle of the wall... which effectively shut down our internet and home network (I was at work and the wife didn't know any better). Anyway, after a week of them denying that they even sent a tech to our house (yeah, they wouldn't even admit to being there!), we finally got through to someone with enough authority to get someone out to fix the broken cables.

Long story short, DirecTV is the debil. I miss my old U-Verse. Aside from paying out the arse for it (you get what you pay for!), we had absolutely no problem with U-Verse. Customer service was always great to us and we never had a billing problem. We were charged what we were quoted/signed up for/ordered. When there were service problems (very few), they were always quick to resolve it.

We have some kind of regular Time Warner cable and their internet package here. Works great, I've since gone up in the attic and put a few of those one in, several out things so we can have tv in all rooms. Even ran one out to the shop so we're good out there, I had a wireless router out there so I could watch Netflix and have Pandora come through my Blue Ray player but the wife squashed that, saying it needs to be inside.

FIOS here too. As indicated previously, expensive, but reliable.

Time Warner is the exact reason I switched to FIOS. Its a long story, but the cable sucked, and the customer service sucked even more.

Unfortunately, there is no Fios out here. That would have been my first choice.

FIOS was great when i lived up there. only wanted Internet service. got a great antenna from Best Buy for $80 and got every channel we needed. since moving, i am with clear (got my own wifi hotspot) and can take it anywhere for $50/month. no problems on the speed, bandwidth or connection issues. only places i couldn't get service was out in the boonies while fishing - but it's not all that important when you are "getting away".

Most everyone around here that has U-Verse likes it and has good customer service. Hope it's not a trend. I am installing today.
