I'm about to drop the hammer on a new fishfinder. I really want the side imaging, but the more I think about it, I don't know where I could mount the transducer. There is the mounting plate on the back of the pontoon, but it is directly in line with the motor which would block one side of the side imaging. Any ideas? I'd really like to get side imaging as I think it would be very beneficial while trolling to look for prospective targets to the side of the boat, but I don't know how I can make it work.

Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the Motor Blocks the signal Humminbird has a AS SI LR Y Cable that splits the SI Transducer to a Left and Right Transducer and will require purchasing a second SI transducer but will allow installation without the motor blocking the signal to the opposite side.

How will the DI be with the signal split approx 7' since the DI isn't a true image, but an interpretation from the SI? That's my biggest hangup on this. I want a good DI as well.

Thanks for the response!

DI will be mixed from the wider returns but match the SI returns. Can you trim the motor to get clearance to the other side? I recommend trying one transducer first then if you need the other side add the Y Cable and Second Transducer.

Thanks for the info Doug! That is exactly what I am planning on trying first. Since DI and SI is only really useful when at slow speeds, I think I can get the motor up far enough to not effect anything, but clear the SI (at least a majority of it).
