A buddy of mine has got his limit 4 days in a row. He said it will be shoulder to shoulder on the weekend, and it won't even matter.

I pulled my boat all the way to Winnsboro today. I refuse to fish the barge. Once was enough for me. Crappie Fishing isn't supposed to be a contact sport. We drove by the barge at about 7:30 and the parking lot looked just like the lot at a NASCAR RACE!!!

We fished the Damm, a few stumps, and around the Barge. We got skunked. The Barge was very quite. I saw six fish on a stringer outside, that's it.

We left early and stopped off at Tawakoni for the afternoon. VERY slow there too, but we did manage 15 nice fish 1.6-1.9 pounds each.

So dutch did you go inside and look?

NO! I saw it last week.

Don't get the wrong idea, I hope everybody who goes to the Winnsboro Barge this weekend catches a limit. Just saying today was Thursday and it was crowded and SLOW!

Cool, the locals say that the outside dont produce like the inside.. Hopefully there were bigger stringers inside.

We enjoyed Winnsboro when we went a week ago. The barge inside would be great if they had a 12 person limit inside at a time and someone to manage it. However, an area that would allow 12 to fish quite nicely has 30 plus trying to fish it at once. If it was non smoking and you did not have to inhale cigar and cigarette smoke that would also be nice. Yesterday as Dutch1947 put it...it looked like a NASCAR race. The bite was slow yesterday. 2 hours from Dallas is spot on. If you want a spot at the barge for the morning bite then you need to leave Dallas at 11pm. People are arriving at 1am to have a spot for the morning bite. Wish I was kidding.

I wish you guys luck and hope everyone catches their limit. :-)

I think if the facility was limited to amount of people inside at a given time and it was a non smoking facility it would be a much more enjoyable experience.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Wind chill values as low as 15. North wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Went Tues and Wed. Caught a limit each day but it is slowing down. Also I witnessed how crowded it can get on the weekends. Will only go on a weekday from her on out. People have been coming up on Friday night to get a spot for Saturday. Advise those going up to get there like 4 am.

puhahah... 2 hour driving... elbow to elbow.. 5 hour waiting time... that's tough... i wouldn't dare.. what makes this barge so special over others? do they have better structures under the water to draw crappies? or that lake just has that many crappies.. anyway, good luck to all of you who will be there...

I have jigged that barge maybe a half a dozen times and only had 1 very good day there and it was very good limited in two hours and only tossed back a couple
Managed 10 one slow day, with only one other person there and had no keepers in the others
Will only go durng the week, way too crowded on weekends

Walleyhunter the Game Wardens do show up and have written tickets.

I talked with a guy that got a $1500 ticket last weekend...

He got the ticket for continuing to catch fish after he had his limit and giving them to other people....

well I am Very Glad He got the state could make a Killing out there Im Glad the SOB got the ticket wish they would write more of them
