My nephew is 14 and loves to fish. He lives out South of Abilene and almost all of his fishing is done on stock tanks. He also goes camping on the river and get catfish. I want to take him bass fishing, but not sure where to go. Sure it would be great for him to land a 8lber, but I'd rather him be able to catch a bunch. Heck anything he catches that's over 1lb will be bigger than what he normally reels in. I'm going to go pick him up in a few weeks on a Thursday and let him miss school on Friday to go to the lake with me. Where should I take him? I've taken him to Fork before, but we got skunked (front blew in the night before we got there).

This time of year I would think about Martin Creek. Fish the hot water area and around the railroad bridge. Might not find 8 lber put shuld be able to put good numbers in the boat up to 5 lbs. If the weather is good I would check out the moss

I don't know what area you are thinking about going but the lake at Cisco is a pretty darn good lake- It isn't very big so it is relatively easy to find fish- If you are looking in the Abilene area-

for numbers it is hard to beat almost any of the city lakes in east texas. dont know where you live but if you went to fork almost every little town in that region has a city lake that does not get much pressure and is full of bass. took two boys about the same age as your nephew plus a friend yesterday after work first cast around 4:30 and caught several with two best being 5 and 4.5, sure hope the boss is'nt on here

Lake athens or even better Mill Creek. MC is smaller and it should be a little easyer to put him on fish there.
