I've been fishing out of kayaks for a while now, but the time has come for an upgrade! I just sold my bass boat and bribed the wife so I can get a Hobie ProAngler! Should be making a road trip to Austin or Dallas to pick one up this weekend! :):)

Just one question - Does anyone run a humminbird SI unit on a yak?? I have one left from the bass boat, but don't know where to put the transducer.

Mariner Sales has a heck of a deal going on right now on the PA's. You could run it off the side on one of those transducer arm doo dads on a gear track. Another way to do it is like Shaun Russell did his on the back. It's not the SI but it's a really cool and safe way to mount a transducer.

If there's a deal to be had, I'm there! but I see no specials on their website. Am I missing something?

Big shout out to Lisa from Mariner Sails whom patiently went through everything on the Pro Angler. Here is the Pro Angler at the show :

Here is the Outback

Now if anyone is shopping for one they are selling the Pro Angler for $2,139!!! Argh, wish I have the cash now but if they are willing to do layaway and wait for 2 months I will definitely buy that in a heart beat!

The Outback is also on sale at the event for $1,577

I have been searching all over the net and a brand new Pro Angler always hover at $2,549!

Lisa was wanting me to meet Shaun but he was busy with another customer. Either way, it was a great event and turn out at the Dallas Boat Show!

Every kayak line that we carry has very similar markdown Boat Show specials. These deals are not limited to Hobies. Just remember . . . these deals will expire next Sunday at the close of the show.

Thanks guys! That's a pretty gnarly deal, and I'm all about the cheap. For the transducer, I think i'LL build an a-fram that goes around the front hatch that I can rotate up and take it out of the water. PVC to the rescue! I'll have to post some pics when I get it worked out.

Again, thanks for the help, fellas.

Congrats on the PA Poolio.
My PA is the ivory dune sittin in front if that green one at the boat show. I have the 570DI and have mine currently off the back. If you are at the boat show this weekend I'll show you a couple ways of setting I up.

Welcome to the club!

You'll love the PA. Here is a couple of photos of my front mount transducer for the 997. If you come to Dallas and pick your unit up from Mariner Sails, I would be happy to help you with a similar mount. I am about to pick up another PA and rig it similarly. Wouldn't be much problem to do another ram extension at the same time.

Since the SI looks quite a ways to the side, having a very stable mount is important. PVC might do fine, but I would make sure it is very solid and does not shake at all.

You will probably want to join the Hobie forum also if you have not already. Lots of good rigging tips and photos.

Again, Welcome, Phill

Carver, if that's your mount on the HobieCat site, it looks outsanding! Much simpler than what I'd planned with an A-frame. Is it possible for you to rotate the 'Ducer up while on the water?
