Right after I posted that I realized on this one there's more that I could do to get it closer. I'll put it up after awhile. This ones from hwy 16 to Rochells. That last bit is cut off.

It's about 19.5 miles. I've heard of people having problems and doing it in one day though. The last time we went we camped somewhere around 12 miles into it.

Nicely done, Brian! Is that made up by stitching screen shots? Do you mind if I post it on LSC? Of course, you get credited. If yes, can you email me a hi-res version of the image?

Yeah that's how I did it, go ahead post away. I'll try tomorrow to do a better one, but I'm not to sure how hi-res it'll be. The more you zoom in the bigger it gets and fast! I'm trying to just get something I can carry on one page but be detailed enough so you'll have a very good idea where you are. I like to have maps, it's just always a pita to find the one your looking for, I mainly just like them for planning trips, not so much for while I'm out, unless it's finding that special spot.

google earth is a good way to check out the brazos. Here is a quick shot of it. Print it on landscape mode and use 14"x11" paper if you can. I use my phone to see where Im at on the rivers. My map on my Iphone even worked on the Devils river.

If your using your phone, do you have the Navonics app? Doesn't work on many rivers if any but for lakes it's great.

Speaking of apps y'all should check out Trimble Outdoors. It's a free app for both Android and iOS. It has aerial, topo, terrain, roads, etc.
It'll track your position and mark waypoints like every other GPS app. Plus, there's an online login that allows you to upload/download your tracks/waypoints for the day while on the water even. It'll add geo-referenced pictures too. It's compatible with Garmin and Google Earth files. Unfortunately, it doesn't have Navionics type maps on it.
It's an amazing app that I can't believe is free.

If y'all want custom maps for Brazos or anywhere else let me know. It's kind of what I do for a living.

No custom apps here. I just use the thing that comes on my phone. It's weird how it even worked out on the devils where there was no cell signal. I had a map in my devils river guide book to look at and between the two I knew exactly where I was

I downloaded the Trimble app earlier today. It seems really cool for a free app. I just had it track me when I went to lunch, and it seems to work great.

Don't want to see the forum or anyone get in trouble but those maps might be a copyright violation when posted on this site.

From the USGS website: "USGS-authored or produced data and information are considered to be in the U.S. public domain." http://www.usgs.gov/laws/info_policies.htmlWe're all good posting topo maps.

I remember that report from that trip. You were crazy trying to float it in that over loaded huge barge.
