Hello to all, this is my first post on the site and wanted to pick the minds of some of the people who have been to lake fork. I will be going at the end of the May. I've already hired a guide for 3 days of fishing. I'm looking at staying at Pope landing? Is anybody here stayed there or familiar with the area? Is it possible to bank fish in the area's around the cabins?

welcome

Good luck on your trip!

Popes has a deepwater ramp and a few boat slips. There is also a bridge in the back that you could fish off of. The bank fishing should be pretty good..

Yeap...... Lots of fish around Popes that time of year and good bank fishing!

Nice place to stay as well. From the docks all the way out to the point between Big and Little Mustang will hold fish that time of year!

Not a lot of public areas to bank fish at Fork but you'll get some in around Pope's in the evenings when you get off the lake. Good luck and welcome to Lake Fork.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm really looking forward to this trip. It will be my first fishing time fishing in the state of Texas. I hope the lake really lives up to all the hype in the articles I keep reading.

Dude the cabins are brand new and awsome. There is really good fishin' just as Zeeter said right their off the point where the cabins are. John the manager is one of the best sticks around and is a very nice dude and will put you on fish. Welcome to Fork!!!!

Southpaw, I live in Memphis and go to Fork all the time, its going to take you closer to 7 1/2 hours from Jackson to get there. Any questions, let me know , like a short cut off the highway to Fork.

Welcome to the Forum. And once you fish Fork, you will be asking why it took so long to fish her your first time. And you will be thinking about and planning your next trip. There are some excellent guides on the lake, and they will definately put you on fish. Good luck.

I have a place at Pope's. My grandson has caught alot of good size bass from the bank. He caught 7lb 9oz bass in the McDonald's tournament from the bank. Two good boat ramps also.

dont know the popes area but fork in may is pretty much a bank beaters dream. usually a shad spawn going and with low water and no grass find clay banks and points and hold your rod tight
