After seeing several comments about discharge rates, etc., and having no boat, nor the money to hire a guide for three days, I have a question.

I have fished three places. I've spent a couple of weeks on the San Juan in NM. I've spent many days fishing the LMF at Broken Bow. I've spent one day late in the season on the Little Mo at Lake Greeson.

I want to fish some new water. All of Arkansas is within 8 hours of me. I don't float, I only wade. So, where in Arkansas can I take my 15 yo son and spend a few days catching?

CC,

Ken Richards just spoke at the Dallas Fly Fishers meeting last Monday. He had a lot of good information, and about 1/2 his photos were of people wading. Here is a link that you might find helpful Arkansas Rivers.

If your son will still be 15 when you go, visiting Dry Run Creek just outside the Norfolk National Trout Hatchery is an ABSOLUTE MUST!! It is catch-and-release only, and is only for kids under 16 and the disabled. The size of the trout are large. I have some pictures Cody took from the walking trail about 15 feet above Dry Run Creek; if I can find a good shot or two, I will post.

++1 It is located near Mtn. Home, so it is a long trip from DFW, but worth the trip. There are a lot of fish in there and some of them are monsters. Your son would have a blast.
