Absolutely get a Mexican license if you are going to fish on that side. Its the right thing to do, which really should be reason enough. Its also the law and certainly not worth the risk of getting caught without one. I have never been checked for Mexican license either but NO ONE on this forum can tell you for sure if the Mexican authorities will be checking licenses tomorrow or next week. Why take the chance.

+10 I've had netters come up on me without knowing they were there. It could as easily been mexican marines. Having the piece of paper could stop you from being violated in a mexican jail if you know what I mean......

Yes, alot of people don't get then and have never got one. We used to just out run them at amistad if we saw them coming or if they try to stop us. Which was once every 5 years maybe, but know they have boats that have as much if not more hp than you do. I have heard of to many story's in the last 15 years of boat be taken and drag out of the water. $60 dollars is worth the peace of mind have it and knowing you are not doing anything wrong.

The Mexican GW at Amistad usually has 2 police officers or soldiers with her and they are packing { auto rifles }. I don't think I can outrun one of their rounds and would not even think about it. They say she speaks good english and is very nice.Just pay the $60 and have a good time.

Not trying to hijack this post but, yesterday, I witnessed a couple of handcuffed Mexican fishermen being arrested and their boat being confiscated. I asked what they had done and was told they were fishing illegally on the U.S. side. Now for all of you penny pinchers out there, I pose this question. What if it was you stopped on the other side about to loose your boat and all of your gear? Would $40 for a week or $60 for a year be too much to spend. Think of all of the other money that you have spent already to get there. I have fished over 30 days at Falcon in the last twelve months and no, I have not seen any kind of warden but, I am in their country and I don't mind the piece of mind. It could save you your gear and your rear. And by the way, if you think you can fish the Mexican side and always see what is coming, you are wrong. They can be on top of you in a heartbeat. Just my $.02 cents worth.

If they don't need a drivers license or insurance over here, why should you bother with a fishing license for over there.

Lol, is this the same crowd that's usually ready to crucify someone for breaking any law in Texas. I just got my Mexican license in the mail. A one week license was like 20 something dollars. Most of us spend twice that any time we go near a tackle store. Why would you even consider not being legal going into another country.

Just because someone else doesn't do it here, doesn't make it right for you to do it over there. Breaking the law is breaking the law. If you have been watching the news the last couple of years it's what our government has been trying to fix. They want you to be here llegally and documented. I think it's only fair for Americans to lead by example.

+1 I fished in Mexico on my last trip down without a Mex license. I haven't heard of anyone getting stopped over there by Mexican officials. If you get get stopped by the cartel at gunpoint you're just screwed. LOL

Lose your boat and spend some time in a Mexican jail for no telling how long, and the next time you go fishing down there you might see your old boat w/ some Mexican locals having a good time w/ your tackle and boat.

It's 60 bucks for a year and you can get it at the tackle shop on the way to the ramp in the morning, not worth the risk of being in a mexican prison with your junk confiscated.

I haven't been asked for a texas fishing license in a couple of years either, by some opinions on here i should stop buying those too.

And from what others have said, lead by example. Don't want foreigners breaking laws here? But will break foreign laws to save a few bucks, can't have it both ways..

save your $60 and put it towards gas money and fish the american side smile

If I ever had the need to go fish the mexican side then I would pay for a license because it is the correct thing to do, but I can tell you if mexican police pulled up on me over there, a mexican fishing license would be the least of my concerns because if it's like alot of the other parts of mexico then you better have some money on you in order to hopefully buy your way out of there smile

Thanks it was never a question of getting a Mexico fishing license if I fish that side.
I will deffinatly get one if I fish in mexican waters.
With the cost of this trip what is another $60.

I was just miss informed. I thought you had to send away to get one and could not get one at the point of sale.

They arnt allowed to check you for your mexican fishing license. Thats what they told me atleast.

They can ask to see anything you got in your possession. Legally you can refuse, but they can and will take up a lot of your fishing time. No, you won't get a ticket from US authorities for not having a Mexico fishing license, but why give them a reason to waste your time. Be legal, be safe!

I always have a mexican fishing license and always offer it to border patrol and game wardens... Every time they tell me
"We litterally dont care about that peice of paper"

If your going to go to Mexico buy a license. Its hard to understand that Mexico IS ANOTHER COUNTRY! They do not play fair.
