Sounds like overkill to me.

Kinda of hard for me to grasp the idea of a grown man needing a baby sitter/ asst. to follow him every where.

That in itself would drive most people to drinking.

Maybe he should donate his babysitter to Lindsey Lohan.

I'm beginning to doubt on whether he's gonna make it around here anymore.

He's had a baby sitter for several years. It was hitting coach Johnny Narron for a while, then when Narron he was hired by the Twins Hamilton's father-in-law was going to take the job but later changed his mind... Hamilton is still one of the most talented players in MLB but with his recent injury problems, age, (31) and the drug/alcohol issues, I would be surprised to see the Rangers sign him to a long term contract.

I think as long as he is playing and has someone interested in keeping him going he has a chance.
I fear for the day when he reaches the point that baseball is done with him. Will he have it in himself to stay straight on his own. He may always need an accountability partner.
I have a younger brother who had serious drug and alcohal problems. He has been clean now for 12 years. He has told me it is a day to day struggle. He say's he could probably make it on his own now but having someone to keep him accountable is still a big help when he is stressed.

I think it's impossible for most of us to understand the level of true addiction that is appears Josh goes through. I hope that we never will be able to understand it, too!

While having an accountability partner seems down right absurd to most of us, you wouldn't think it so absurd if you had truely seen, or been involved with someone who has the same, or worse, level of addiction than Josh has!

If you've ever been in that situation, I can assure you that you'd pay double what the Ranger's are paying to have an adult babysitter help out if you could afford it!

Hadude made a pretty good point about what Josh is gonna do when he's out of baseball.

I hope the best for Josh because he's a human and there seems to be alot of good in him!

I love to watch Josh play and when healthy he is about as good as it gets in the MLB level. That said I would only sign him long term if there was some kind of out in the contract if he has a real meltdown with his addictions. With his talent it is a terrible shame. As far as any babysitter that should come out of his pocket IMO...

Josh will always have an accountability partner or team. It is the basic way 12 step programs work.

I have a few accountablility people in my life, and a sponsor.

I am sure Josh has even more.

Addiction runs both ways, so even when Josh is successful, it will be a day to day struggle, not to use.

a babysitter is reason enough to prevent me from wanting to sign a long term contract.

Didn't Dallas or Tennesse try this sort of thing with Pacman Jones? If I remember it didn't end well? Or am I thinking of another player?

I was thinking Pacman hired his own personal "body guard". Might be wrong though
