I have personally had the opportunity to talk and fish with some of the DBU guys and they are a good bunch of guys and very appreciative for what they have. They are excited to fish and learn new things. Yea they have alot of nice things but they also worked their tails off to get where they are with getting sponsors and support from their school. I know some of the other schools are giving them [censored] about getting that kind of support but they did put in the time and effort and it has paid off for them in a big way. I wish them all the luck in the world and hope they have an outstanding fishing season!!!! +1 They placed 18th this past weekend at amistad with a limit @ 10lbs 14oz. They have earned what they got and I can only wish what my team could attain what they have in a short period of time. Hopefully things start looking up for my college and their contribution to our sport

saw them at twin dikes this past winter at rayburn, with new trucks and fully wraped legends. I guess they have a coach to back down their boats down cause they couldent. their highest team had like 8.74lbs in 2 days? and just to make sure i dont look like a a-hole i checked their history in college tourny's didnt find any. can some one tell me how the flying eff they got that deal? where do i sign up for that? DBU = BIG MONEY And way above average intelligence to get into that school. This is just a hunch, but you probably don't need a DBU application ..

I attended DBU for one year before I was asked to relocate. It's affectionately known as "Harvard on the Hill" here in Oak Cliff, and they 1) do have money, and 2) they won't recruit kids just to fish, or for any other extra curricular activity.
Spend a few hours there and you'll see a different class of kids. That's not a comment on other schools, it's just a personal observation from DBU.
Besides, they're probably the only college fishing team whose school sits on a lake that's unfishable. We've made several water rescues at Mountain Creek Lake, and watched "sports" walk their disabled boats back to shore.
They'll do fine, just give them some time.

I think getting support from the administration is the key.. Most schools don't care if you have a bass team but they are not going to put money into it. DBU decided to support their bass club. I wish as many of us older bass fishermen that we would have loved to had a bass team in highschool or college

I agree with Hardin. A fancy boat and sponors do not make a person fish better. I have a friend that fishes out a wareagle that has finished in the top 5 of every club tournamen and the top 5 at amistad this past weekend.

I'm currently picking out colleges to go to. And DBU is right up there. Even though my sister will be there a year also. But they're making it tough because I really wanna go SFA.. I can't pick. Too yalls opinion, what's the best school out there to fish?

Too yalls opinion, what's the best school out there to fish? Dont even think about bass fishing when you pick the school you want to go to. It is easy to become a member of a bass team if you go to a school that has a team and it is easy to create a bass club if they do not already have one. Base you decision off which university gives you the best educational oppertunities for your future.

I also would not choose my college based on "which school out there is the best to fish" or by the current quality of the bass club on campus. At the end of the day, you're there to get the best education you can get in the field of your choice. Fishing, or any other sport you partake in while on campus, is just something extra you do to pass your spare time for the most folks. As I mentioned earlier, DBU is an awesome school but probably not like many other colleges. It's a much smaller campus for one and overall sports are not #1 on the campus agenda. I attended as an adult taking night classes so I have no idea how full time campus life is but as far as academics are concerned, it's a good school. I transferred to DBU from a junior college and finished my junior/senior years there, making straight A's in Business Administration (had to throw that in, lol).

I fish for the University of Texas and me and my partner fished against them at Whitney. They didn't do great at that tourney either but they were a very nice group of guys. Their coach even took me and my partner out on their new Legend for a ride. I would kill for the University of Texas to have a bass fishing program like that! They may not be great now but I have no doubt that with the equipment and coaching that they have that they will get there.

Too yalls opinion, what's the best school out there to fish? Hey man, the fishing is just a plus. Don't base your college choice only on that though. DBU and they're program are way more then just attending school and fishing. I encourage you to take a tour of both schools and see what thale school itself has to offer.I guarantee that you'll see a difference.

Not sure that Hardin would fit in too well at DBU. They are looking for servant leaders, not takers.
Think they would allow alumni on the team. I could use some coaching!!!
DBU is a great school with superb leaders. How about that Patroit baseball team!
