Just a quick report here from Crappieville:

Crappie are in prespawn mode, with fish coming from 10-18ft of water. Fish are biting Thump Buddies in the C.R. Special color, rigged with an 1/8oz unpainted jig head. These fish were caught mid day, and were averaging over 12", with many of the males showing a TON of color.

Crappie are getting ready to bust wide open, as the water temperature continues to approach that magic number.

Dang it. I was out there all day today looking for them. I don't know the lake well and couldn't find any brush piles though. I did manage to catch a few hybrids and a 9 pound black bass on a 4 foot crappie rod. So it wasn't a wasted trip I guess. Only got to skin a catfish tonight for dinner. I need tips on this lake bad like. I want a mess of crappie.

Big10, the magic number is 60 degrees. You start seeing 58 and 59 degrees, start looking for fish.

I think Ray Hubbard is around 54 degrees right now so Cedar Creek should be around that or a little warmer?

Was 60 from my dock on the south end Saturday .

I saw a lot of 57 and 58 degree water. Next week is supposed to be warm, ought to be a good time to catch a crappie or two.
