Puck just dropped and this is the attendance at the AAC. I remember the days when every game was sold out.

It has nothing to do with the economy but everything to do with the former owner Tom Hicks. For years he'd been trying to sell the team and refused to spend money on payroll and promoting the team.

Hicks is a jerk.

Its sad we sold out the game 72 hours ago because it was Balfour appreciation night, and gave away 7500 posters. But can't get 8k to a game tonight

Until this team gets in the playoffs this is all you're get

Wasn't but 3-4 years ago the rangers were lucky to pull 15-20k night, now we average well over 40k and I'm sure that will go up next year.

DFW has got to have the most fair weather fans ever, excluding the cowboys.

Stars were a HUGE draw in the late 90s and you couldn't give away mavs tickets. Complete opposite now

Or it could be that Hockey ain't very popular here anymore! Is there even a generation here that remembers the Stanley Cup? Hell, it's almost as long ago as the Cowgirls last Superbowl victory.

There are an absolute ton of kids that play hockey in DFW.

More and more highschools are getting teams every year. And every local rink that I play on is getting more popular and its harder and harder to get ice time as time goes on

I still have 2 Dallas Blackhawks seat cushions...anyone remember it was Eric Nadel who announced the games in person and did the radio for away games. I remember you could get a Schlitz in a huge carton probably 32 oz for something like $2. Also folks could walk from one side of the State Fair Coliseum while the game was underway and every now and then someone would get hit with a puck kind of like a shooting gallery...good times...

I was trying to be nice and offer a reasonable solution at first.

Here's what I really think!

1. Hockey doesn't work in Texas!

2. Only old geezers still re-livin' the Stanley Cup win like hockey!

3. Hockey sux!

That is a shocking picture. I would say it has nothing to do with the economy. From looking at the Super Bowl expenses and the lines to get Nike shoes and Call of Duty X-Box games - I would say the economy is good!

Hockey will work if they start winning again, but only while they are winning. FOR THE MOST PART, Texans aren't big on hockey UNLESS THEY ARE WINNING.

I emphasized "FOR THE MOST PART" to acknowledge the samll part of sports fans in texas that are hockey fans.

I love hockey, right up there with baseball. And the Stars have issues. They look NOTHING like the team I have been watching the ast few years. They really need to get their act together.

it used to be the hottest ticket in town. by FAR the hottest chics at any event in town. where did all the yankee hard core hockey fans go? they had a small devoted hockey group that went to every game. hockey sucks anyway, they should have never forsaken their yankee strongholds to move to texas with that yankee carp. good ridance. ICE HOCKEY in texas, good call. if they were still in MN they would probably still sell out no matter what.

lol, I like em fine, in yankee land. just dont bring ICE HOCKEY to texas or the deep south and expect huge support. what i really dislike is teams abandoning communities that have supported them for decades leaving them high and dry to chase a few extra dollars. see NBA teams hopping allover the country and failing.

I'd suggest eating only the modest portion on the top shelf and the 4 beverages surrounding it.

You should do more research. Texas has more professional and Junior teams than any other state in the Union.

The mob in the collisium is a fickle thing they will pack the stands when you are winning. They will turn their back on you then desert you when you don't. It is just the nature of the mob. I like the fact that I can get a reasonablly priced ticket to see a hockey game acually they are cheap right now.

And everyone else bashing hockey in Texas is just ignorant. Y'all have no clue how big it is with the under 30 crowd around here. In 10-15 years we are going to have some real talent coming out of these parts.
15 years ago we had 0 public rinks in DFW. Now we have at least 10 differant locations, most of them have more than 1 sheet of ice, and there are people on them every day of the week from 6am-11pm... 1-2 am on weekends
