Went there last Saturday in the afternoon for a couple of hours after the storms had stopped.

The water in the pond looked pretty good. My son had a lot of fun catching small sun fish. I was putting live night-crawlers on his rod as bait.

I caught a small catfish and had big bite from a carp, but couldn't get it out. Caught the cat-fish on a piece of hot dog and had night crawlers on the rod which the carp hit.

There are some big carps in the pond and they were in very shallow water. But after the initial hit just couldn't get them to bite.

I'm planning to go there again on Saturday. It would be great if someone can tell me which bait would be good for Carp.

Cheers

RD take a look on the Rough Fish/Carp board on TFF. Might get some help there.

Is this the pond you're talking about? Also I hear sweet corn is a great basic bait for carp!

Thanks for your replies. I did look at the Carp forum and believe me, I'm gonna fill the lake with corn smile

Saw of lot of Carp roaming around my last time, I went prepared.
I had corn, night-crawlers, chicken liver and the powerbaits.

I went there again last Saturday and the water was clear with almost to no wind. So I chummed a lot of corn at my spot and put in my two poles in that area.

After an hour or so I started getting some hits.I got a nice hit on my ultra-light pole with a 6 lb braid. Started reeling in..and just when I could see the fish..(damn she looked good), the line broke off! frown

After that, it turned out to be really slow and nothing happened!

On my third pole, put in some night-crawlers and twice I had some good hits. But in the end nothing came out. There were a lot of turtles roaming around and I think they were yanking on my baits.

All in all, a good day to stare at your rods ..but nothing else.

Will be going to the Pond at Westheimer Rd behind the Army corp office.

Cheers
