Will be in Galveston on Thursday with some time to kill. Planning to do a little bank fishing down there. Never fished the salt, but have the gear (minus steel leaders). Anybody have any tips on where I might be able to get into some decent fishing? Would like a chance at flounder, specks, and reds, but pretty much anything would be good. I've read that live shrimp and finger mullet are the go to live baits. Mainly looking for locations that would be easy access (jetties, etc.). Would prefer to stay off the piers unless that's just where all the fishing is at the moment.

Was originally thinking the jetties along Seawall, but have read they're best with a flat surf, and saw 10-15 mph ENE winds with 2-3' surf.

Might try the bay side of San Luis Pass. Just dont wade.
Or if you have the time, hop the ferry over to Boliver and fish rollover pass before they close it this year.

Pretty much anywhere on the beachfront from San Luis pass to Freeport. Just pull in and fish. Although with that weather, you might have some dirty water.

Like old frog said, bay side of San Luis should produce...probably not flounder though.

If U want flounders, wading in seawolf park is the best spot.
I always get my limits every time I wade there.
