My speedo and Tac stopped working as well as a couple of light bulbs in my cluster. I replaced all the stepper motors and bulbs. Works like new!!!

Is it cheaper than buying a whole new cluster? Mine hasn't worked in a couple years and I need to get around to fixing it.

Looks good. I had a 2001 Silverado with the same cluster. I had a couple of light bulbs go out but never any stepper motors. I never got around to fixing it before selling the truck.

Mine has not worked right for about 3 years. Trailer lights never work right either

How much did that cost?

My gas gauge is currently pointing to the pump on the cluster, I'm apparently running about 120lbs of oil pressure and generating about 20 volts.

I need to do this.

Should be about 12 bucks per motor. I buy em by the bagfull on ebay. A plastic fork is a handy tool for getting the indicator off also.

i have an '05. have the same problem with my oil pressure reading at about 120, and the spedometer randomly quits. would it be the same problem if they only randomly quit? and what do i do if i have no mechanical or electrical abilities whatsoever? is it cheap to have a mechanic do this?

It takes just a tad bit of soldering skill and a steady hand (especially for the bulbs. I got a kit with 6 motors and all the light bulbs for $52. DON'T USE A HUGH TEMP SOLDERING IRON/GUN!!! Use the cheap 7 dollar one from radio shack. I almost messed mine up getting a solder point too hot. That video is all I used to figure it out. The bulbs were easy to put in, but don't use the plastic bases. Just solder the new ones on after cutting them to the right length.

If your certain gauges randomly go out, it's probably the stepper motor. They hang up both directions. My tach started getting sticky. Not smooth at all. The speedo was pegged out.

It was very simple as long as you're patient, slow, and careful. Definitely give it a try. A new cluster is over $600. You can send it off to texasintrumentcluster.com for $150 or do it yourself in about an hour for $52. I figured if they were already not working, then I couldn't mess it up too bad.

Sheldon, those holes mysteriously stopped... wink

Adam, make sure that before you put it back together that you have continuity between your solder point and the next one down the trace, about a quarter inch down. That'll make sure your solder made good contact.
