It takes just a tad bit of soldering skill and a steady hand (especially for the bulbs. I got a kit with 6 motors and all the light bulbs for $52. DON'T USE A HUGH TEMP SOLDERING IRON/GUN!!! Use the cheap 7 dollar one from radio shack. I almost messed mine up getting a solder point too hot. That video is all I used to figure it out. The bulbs were easy to put in, but don't use the plastic bases. Just solder the new ones on after cutting them to the right length.
If your certain gauges randomly go out, it's probably the stepper motor. They hang up both directions. My tach started getting sticky. Not smooth at all. The speedo was pegged out.
It was very simple as long as you're patient, slow, and careful. Definitely give it a try. A new cluster is over $600. You can send it off to texasintrumentcluster.com for $150 or do it yourself in about an hour for $52. I figured if they were already not working, then I couldn't mess it up too bad.
Sheldon, those holes mysteriously stopped...
