I finally had the chance to take my NEW johnny morris carbonlite reel out on the water today and it was very impressive to say the least! it was awesome,we got into some good hybrids (6-10 pounders) and caught em all day the casts were super smooth, effortless, and distant! the drag was well tested and worked flawlessly, when hooked up it handled fish extremely well it's just an amazing little reel for only $129, weighing in at only 5.9oz with 14lb's of drag,10 bearings, and made out of aircraft grade aluminum with a carbon fiber handle it just can't be beat in my honest (opinion)so I thought i'd share my review with you guys today,go get one!! trust me you won't regret it!!![http://i40.tinypic.com/2i0rqiw.jpg[/IMG]

I bought two of them and tested them last week and also just fell in love. Reels are described to a tee.

I have to try it out. It is cheap enough (comparitively) that I will have to go get one. I don't really like the gold, but I'll get over it.

H2O Mettle for the money without a doubt...I could have two of them for $129 and a little money left over for whatever else...

the quality appears to be 10 fold of the H2o Mettle reel, never have even held a JM Carbonlite reel, but I did buy a Mettle just to see what the hype as all about and I didn't get the impression that it would hold up to fishing 3-5 days a week.

This JM reel looks like a quality product for sure, might have to get one and check it out..

I would buy five of the Mettles on Black Friday for $25 and be set for life. I bought a couple of them this past Nov for $24.99 and it's the best reel I have ever used. I can't speak of their durability YET, but for $25, it doesn't matter.

Well I am a Shimano guy through and through, been fishing them exclusively for about 20 years now. I did buy a H2O Mettle last year for my daughter and tried it myself, not bad, but still a cheep reel. Good for the money though.

After looking at the new Chronarchs, Curados, and Citcas in the stores, I have to say that I'm not reel impressed. "pun intended"

However, I was at BPS this weekend and was so impressed with the new JM Carbonlites that I bought two of them. For the price I just couldn't pass them up, bought a 6.4:1 for my daughter and a 7.1:1 for me. Will they last? Will the perform as well? Don't know the answer. Time will tell.

Going to Toledo Bend this weekend and we'll see. I think most will agree that the Shimano, Diawa, Abu are all getting too expensive and its nice to see BPS trying to put out a good product at a good price point.

Just so disappointed that the reels are made in Korea. I'm sure thats why they can sell them so cheap. Its a shame that most all of our rod and reels are made overseas. I'm as guilty as anyone else of buying these products. Money is hard earned and I have to buy what I can.

God bless companies like Falcon Rods for still manufacturing in the "Good Ole USA".

I am not sponsored or employed by anyone in the fishing business. Just an opinion.

Fished with Edwin Evers last September.

He is sponsored by BPS and uses the BPS-branded rods and reels. I threw them all day with him, crankbaits and plastics. Landed fish. No problems. No worries about the "inexpensive" non-brand name rod and reel.

If he throws them on the Elite Series and believes in them, why wouldn't Joe Lunchbucket? They weren't anything different than what can be bought in BPS.

As much as I enjoy my Revo and Shimano reels, I'll be looking at the CarbonLite line next time I need any. Good value for what I'd use them for.

I have fished the [censored] out of them for years and havent had one fail me yet. I do regular maintenance on them though. Obviously they arent the prettiest reel you can own, but im not all that big on cosmetics when I am fishing.

To each their own, but im not going to fix whats not broke and for a reel that $50, and $25 on sale and has has about 95-98% consistent reviews with people who regularly use them...im not gonna stop.

I agree, I posted this in your other thread also but I bought a quantum exo, revo premier and the new carbonlite at the same time. Time will tell but so far I wish I had of bought all carbonlites. I could have bought five for the same price I paid for those three reels. The carbonlite feels better and outcasts the other two. I initially bought it thinking it would just be another extra reel in the box to put a follow up bait or something on. Now I think I will be using it most of the time.

I bought one of these on sale during Christmas for $89. Wish I would have bought 5 of them. I have been a shimano guy my whole life. I have had 5 chronarch 100's now for years. I take them apart and replace darn near everything on them, basically completely rebuild them. Same goes with all of my curados.

My logic used to be buyem nice and rebuild them. However after buying one of these, I am now beginning to think that the Labor involved in rebuilding is not worth it. The technology has improved so much over the last 10 years, and there is no question that it will continue to do so. We will see how this one holds up, but I am just about sold.

I'll be curious to see how well it holds up to a years hard use... the word I've gotten on the carbonlite is there are alot of plastic and cheaply constructed parts. Yes it performs well, but they are not very durable. BPS lists them on the web at $129.99, you can add $30 to that and get a quality reel thats proven to last. Seems like a no brainer to spend the extra $$$ to me... but then again I fish 2-3 days a week most of the year and I'm probably a little harder on my gear than some.

I would never judge a reel based on a few days usage. The real test is a year or two from now after they have been fished hard.

I have some JM reels and the same one Mark bought ( looks like it) and I have had it a year and it had been great so far. I also have some JM but different model and they have been fine and I have had them 2 years. I get them on sale as I am poor and even $89 is a lot
