My 15 year old daughter won $100 on the football pot last night. We bought the square for her and one for my 11 year old son.
She was ecstatic that she won. I quickly informed her that I was taking the money and opening her a checking account. She will be driving in 2 months and she needs to have a good lesson in money management.
She has had a savings account for a few years now. We take her FFA show animal sales and put it in there. But I thought, now is the time. I explained she has to keep detailed records and balance the checkbook and so forth. She is excited and I am excited to get her to this next step.
She's a good kid and will learn quickly. What better way to learn the value of a dollar than to be responsible for everything you spend.

I love to Gamble , but I learned to do it on my own , did not have Mom And Dad to help.

We all gamble in life for money, whether it is work or whatever. What is the difference of me putting a dollar in my kids name and ACTUALLY giving them the money.
Gambling teaches good lessons too. My son was confused why he didn't get the $100. I explained that is how life works. Sometimes you put in the same as the next guy and come out behind.
