Adrian and I went out there yesterday to bet a couple of races and just see what it's all about.

For those of you that are familiar with the place, they've remodeled the simulcast area to resemble a seperate sports bar. It doesn't really make you feel like you're in a sports bar, per se, but they have dropped the prices on drinks, upgraded the beer menu, now make some specialty drinks, and have made a menu strictly for the Bar & Book with upgraded food.

The menu looked pretty good, though we didn't try anything. It's pretty strong on caujun-influenced bar food.

Anyhow, it was a good time. Adrian picked the Tri in the 7th at Santa Anita and won herself a whopping $23!!!

We'll definetely be going back.

I need to make an effort to get out there more. It's a good time with an EXTREMELY diverse crowd. rolfmao

People watching there is about as good or better than the races themselves.

Me too, Bill. We should get a bunch of us together and get a box suite.

I would be in for that. My wife and I go several times during the summer season, usually on Fridays for our "Date Nite" each week. When by ourselves we sit at one of the counter-top seats upstairs.

I like to be down on the fence when the weather is nice, but it is nice to have a waitress and a lady come by to take your bets.

I would be in for a Friday night. It's tougher for the wife and I to get someone to watch the heathens on Saturdays.

Bring them along. They can tell the kids in school what a trifecta is at show and tell.

My winning Trifecta ticket has got to be better than the winning $10 lotto ticket that she took this year that she won parlaying her tooth fairy money.

I really miss that place. My Dad used to own and race Thoroughbreads at Lone Star, Houston, Fair grounds, Hawthorne, Trinity Meadows (back in the day) and several others. It was a lot of fun. The funny thing was I had no interest at all in horse racing but when he got involved in it and I saw it first hand Trainers, Jockeys, work outs, etc. I was pulled into it like any other sport. The highs were high and the lows were low.
When He retired He moved to the lake and got out of it.
