We launched this morning at 8:45 with an air temperature of 51 degrees, winds out of the north at 10 to 12 mph and a water temperature of 54 degrees. Our plan this morning was to first move to a few of the past weeks hot spots for Whites Bass and Hybrids only to come up empty. We then tried a couple of coves off the main lake, marking fish in all of them, but unable to get them to take any of our presentations. We then abandoned our search for White Bass and concentrated fishing small inlets against the rock bluffs, off the main lake, in hopes of finding a few Largemouth Bass willing to bite. We first made a past of roughly 150 yards flipping a jig into pockets along the bluffs, with no luck. Went back and tried the same strip of shoreline, only this time throwing a chatterbait parallel to the bank. This seemed to be the ticket, picking up our first fish of the day, a nice 3-4 lbs. Smallmouth Bass. We had 2 more short strikes after that and then nothing. I was sure the fish were there and just needed a different look, so we hit it again this time with a KVD 1.0 Squrebill, picking up 2 more nice Smallmouth before calling it a day.
