My wife and I want to visit some different lakes this year. Maybe take a months trip. Possibly visit Sam Rayborn, Toledo Bend, Caddo, Broken Bow or Hugo Ok.

Any suggestions on places to stay, guides, lakes etc. May do some seminars if someone wants

Ernest, I'd bet you that the Longview-Tyler area would love to attend one of your seminars. Come on East Texas folks, speak up if you'd attend.I know I would. And don't forget Lake O the Pines.

I am at Broaddus, near Rayburn and I would attend.

On Rayburn guides: Larry King, Rodger Bacon. I've been out with Larry he knows his stuff. Mr. Bacon seems like a great guy to fish with. Places to stay? Mr. King guides out of Jackson Hill and they have cabins, but I have never stayed there. Really nice people. Rodger guides out Powell Park, I have stayed there ... I can't recommend the Powell Park cabins, in that the beds are awful. Powell Park marina people are super nice, maybe I got a bum steer of a cabin, or too old to sleep on plywood and a futon? I would guess that Jackson Hill is closer to some hot crappie spots like the 147 bridge.

Mo, I can't dream quite that big,,,but I could go for a Ark trip with the 1/2 Crappie and 1/2 Striper.

I'd just like to see a good Crappie Seminar on Lake Palestine.

Ernest you know where the chicken coop is on TB, we fished that in the seventies.
It is full of Crappie and Green Trout. There are some good spots along NS 6, east side between EW 17 and EW 18 also. You can launch at Wrights Landing on LA side and idle your boat about fifty yards to point on your right. Don't get up on the point it drops off from ten to twenty five foot where you are idling and there are about one hundred Xmas trees tied together there fifteen to twenty five feet. Lots of Crappie and lots of seven pound bass there. I won a bass tournament there.

Hard to beat the Chicken Coop and TB for crappie.

Two clear water mountain lakes 5 hours or less drive from DFW area are Broken Bow and McGee Creek in southern Oklahoma. They have pristine shorelines because they are surrounded by state park. Fishing is good at both lakes. Texas residents over 64 do not need an Oklahoma fishing license.

At Broken Bow the Lodge is a good place to stay (http://www.beaversbend.com/ ). It has a great view of lake, light breakfast buffet, WIFI, gives a senior discount, has power outlets for charging boat batteries, and a boat ramp. The cabins on the river are also good. A short distance from the lodge is a great restaurant - Abendigo’s - http://www.abendigos.com/

At McGee Creek (http://www.travelok.com/listings/view.profile/id.4972) there are some nice camping type cabins. I stay at Comfort Inn in Atoka (http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-atoka-oklahoma-OK196) 20 miles away because my fishing buddy prefers that type of accommodations.
