do baits like Sassy shad and other swim baits right them selves when swimming. If you where to put one on a inline spinner do you think it would swimm properly or would it swim sideways etc? I assume that the reason swimbaits have weights on the hook is to help the lure swim right side up as well as ad weight for casting.

Thanks

I would assume that it all depends on the blade you put on it and its position while in the water. Its going to be hard to tell before you actually get one in the water.

Most swim baits will right themselves if they are balanced right. Often times if you buy the prepackaged ones from Gulp, Berkley, etc, they seem to never want to right themselves. Those are the ones to stay away from if you can help it. I find that the weight that is inside them is often times not centered right and it skews the bait while it is in the water. I prefer to buy the heads and add the swim body to them. You will get better product that cost less this way as well.

Good luck. There are plenty of people with great advice here on swim baits..

Not an expert but will give 2 cents worth of advice, always have the hook centered in the front of the body and make sure the point of the hook comes out in the center of the back of the body. This will help eliminate line twist.

If you are looking for some extra "flash" on the bait you might try to find a larger roadrunner type head. I think the torque of the rotating blade will cause it to run slightly off center.

Depends on swim bait design. A Sassy Shad has a wide body or profile. Kind of hard to rig weed less unless you lay it on it's side.

CocaMoe is slim and skinny, easy to rig weed less. A chatter bait type rig will use a slim profile paddle tail bait. Sassys are made to be put on a jig head.

If u don't rig a swim bait straight, it will run funny.

PreRigD swim baits may need a tweak. The lead will move and ya need to adjust them.

I see a lot of people rigging them sideways. Pull the hook off an inline spinner and swap it with a puma or bass assassin style jig head. Or a swimbait style hook and rig it weedless. Upside down or right side up or sideways its still gonna thump.
