Been out 3 times this week with no problems, then this occured. The only thing I did was put fuel in boat. start: no problem Idle: no problem Take off: 600 to 3000rpm good Took approx 200-300 feet going from 3000 to 4000 rpm to finally get nose down to get on plane. Once on plane no problem. Seems like no low end torque
Thanks

Bad gas, or may be a fuel gasket that has ruptured, mine did the same thing last year and the rubber gasket had ruptured not giving it enough gas to get out of the hole.....
I am by no means a mechanic but may help

I would have put money on it that it was a pro XS. Been there done that twice. What year is your motor? Is it an 08/09 by chance?

It was nice to hear fuel line, filter etc. Powerhead makes my wallet hurt, hopefully if it is the warrenty will cover it.

Don't let all that powerhead junk scare you. Start simple. The cable and the fuel delivery are both likely causes. You said it happened immediately after you filled er up. That alone should be your area of focus. Think outside the box also. Is it a prop issue? Has your jackplate dropped? Good luck and lemme know what you find.

You have a bad coil more than likely. I have an 08 250 pro xs and I went through 4 of them before merc would put 6 new ones in it. It's irritating but they will warranty them. They told me there is a service bulletin to replace all 6 on my year model.

Yes, filled up a couple days before, I have a Hydrolic Jack plate and I made sure both trim and plate were down. I will start simple as you stated and if all else fails by the end of the week will take it in. If it's anything more serious I suspect the warrenty will cover it.
Thanks

I bet you can pull your spark plugs and one is fouled and that is your blown coil. I just got mine out of the shop for the same thing last week.

No problem. It just sucks having to go with out a boat for 2 weeks to get them replaced when its a 30 min. job to replace all six. Waiting for merc to send them and the dealer to put you in line is what takes so long. You can find them on the net for bout 130.00 avg.

Take it to a mechanic and spend 100$ and let them tell u. Mechanics arnt Magic...... And sounds like some sort of a fuel issue. It could be a sign that your fuel pump is bout to go out.

I had a bad plug wire do this last year. 250 ProXS. Changed all 6 wires and plugs. Warranty.
I thought for sure it was a coil too.
Good Luck.

Oh this is too familiar...08 ProXs 225. I had blown power head for same issues. They tried to put a crate motor on it it wouldn't work. Had coils and ECM problem as well. They wound up putting a new complete power head dressed out on mine this past July. 4 or 5 months of Mercury and dealership going round and round but they finally made it right. Hope yours is a simple issue but I wouldn't count on it.

This could be related to a problem with the electrical system, fuel delivery system or an operational problem. Way too broad to diagnose on an online forum. Take it to a certified mechanic and let them diagnose it. If you don't do the correct diagnostic steps, you're just going to be throwing parts at the problem and likely wasting your time.
