Do I need a gear puller to remove the steering wheel assembly?

I have hydraulic fluid leaking at my steering wheel.

Is there a seal I can replace or is this a job for Rockwall Marine?

Pretty simple job to replace the "O" ring. Pull the wheel off, remove two screws, remove the "o" ring and replace. Buying just the "o" ring is the problem as it is part of a seal kit. 50 cent part in a $45 kit. BTW, be sure to get the oil cleaned up off the carpet, it will lift the glue.

Removed the center nut and took the steering wheel off but cannot see how to get the rest off.

If there is a black plastic cover it will have two phillips screws to take off.

I have the tilt helm so I may not be of much help but for mine you then use a wrench and remove a couple bolts to take the helm loose.

Got it off....a good rap with a hammer and steady pressure got it.

O-ring looks good but the cover over it was loose. Tightened it and hopefully that will fix it!

Don't count on it Redman, the cover is only a dust cover. If the O ring was leaking, it is worn where it seals the wheel shaft and needs replacing.
