Lowe boats are solid boats and they stand behind their product. I heard horror stories about some well known aluminum boat brands. I can personally atest that you will not have warranty issues with Lowe.

The thing is that is a flat bottom boat and it will not give you a smooth ride.

I looked at pictures of it. Good looking boat that will make a good fishing boat as long as there is no big water involved. Looks a little light to handle rough water. I have been caught several times by fronts and storms. You don't mean for it to happen but it does. If you buy this boat just don't strech the limits. Would be awesome in the shallows.

I had a 12 foot flat bottom, with a 5 hp merc. i think this will be a good step up. I fish granger, gibbons, limestone, belton with the 12ft are you saying big water like Twok or what are you saying? I figured with a 18ft 24 inch sides 60 inch wide i could handle pretty good in fairly rough water or at least rougher than what i would do with the 12 foot. i had the 12 foot out on gibbons with about 15-20 mph winds, probally wouldnt ever do it again but i would think the 18 would do ok in that. This will be my first real boat besides the 12 footer.

I have an 1860 Lowe and its been a great fishing boat for me. I moved from a 14 foot john into this one and the improvement in stability is fantastic. No, its not a 22 foot Blue Wave but it aint bad!

That boat will be perfect Dj. I have a 17 ft. aluminum boat and fish Belton or Granger all the time and have been on both in winds up to 30 mph. When there is some good chop on the water flat bottom aluminum boats don't cut through the waves very well so you wont be able to go very fast unless you don't mind beating your brains out. If you know what you're doing that boat will be perfect for Belton,Granger, and Limestone.

We have a 2011 ST195 Lowe Stinger, purchased in March 2011 (hence not a year old yet). I must say I like the boat, except the part that it keeps cracking and splitting its bow/keel nose piece and the part that it keeps splitting both port and starboard inside gunnel welds. Oh and not once, twice but 3 times is a charm. Now, in saying this I am still not downing Lowe a Brunswick owned company, they have been excellent each time it is falling apart and are quite perplexed themselves on why this keeps happening, so the customer service is good. But we have a boat that is not yet a year old and has been out of our possession more than it has been in our possession.

We are avid anglers and love love our hobby of fishing and we are on the water ALOT! We fish ALOT and we use our boat ALOT, get the picture. Different lakes, different weather.

Lowes customer service is good customer service and it might just be we got the one boat that rolled off the line that day that was crummy, but stick a fork in us we are done, we can not be confident in their product.

I wish the nightmare would end and we would have never chosen this boat to purchase, I would really like a do over...

Just saying...

May I recommend that your next boat be a LUND.

Man, if you get into rough water on Granger, just take your time. I got a Merc. I like the warranty. But my next motor is a Suzki or Yamaha. Good luck on the buy and just watch those stumps. Oh, I'm sorry, it not if you get into rough water on Granger, it's when you get into rough water. thumb

I sent you a PM with a Brunswick's sales rep name and cell number.

I would send a certified letter requesting that your hull be replaced.

I've looked at the new Lowe 'Frontier' boats and they are an improved boat in comparison to the previous model. I've owned several Lowe boats and have one now. All my Lowe boats were all 'roughneck' welded jons or the riveted jon.
The aluminum in the jon boats is softer than what they use in the bass boat. It dings easier but does not crack...I've never had a single crack in my boats and they go through hell with me.
I've heard the Lowe 'bass' type boats are not so tough and crack. Tracker boats were notorious for cracks but I do not know if this is still the case. Seaark makes one tough boat and I think the best "mass produced" aluminum boat out there. If you can swing it the Seaark 1872 is much better than the Lowe...it has a .125 hull versus the .100 for the lowe hull. You can also get a Seaark with a 15 degree deadrise hull which will handle rough water much better than the 3-1/2 degree Frontier.
I've never had a problem with Mercury either, in fact I like em best. I know the 'Jap' motors are good, popular and all that but I'm sticking with the motor I know and trust. I'm not saying anything bad about other motors because I've never owned one. I'm just happy with Merc's and as long as that is true I will never own anything else.

The bass boats are heavy...much heavier than you think.

If you want an aluminum boat go used. I had all kinds if trouble my first boat...but after lowe replaced the hull it has stood up to the beatings of tournament fishing.

If it has 3 years and hasn't cracked...it probably never will.

Also take replacement value insurance on it.

I have a 2009 1860 cc made by Triton and have not had any problem with the boat. The bumper guides on both sides of the trailer broke off right past the weld ? These are the brackets that hold the 3-foot bumper guide, not the rails.

The boat is 18.5 ft with a 90 hp Merc. and "yes" it will beat you to death as it's a flat bottom boat but the price was right so I purchased it. Stable as hell, big casting deck front and back, with 84" beam. Ok for my kind of fishing but would not have taken it out this past Saturday on Tawok wink
