Went to to tawokoni with Gary Moats. I had a great time! We started out anchoring down in a cove on the southeast side in a few feet of water, and in about two hours we had 19 eaters in the box. So we decided to go after the big boys and set up a drift closer to the dam over the humps. We got a few more box fish and my buddy landed a PB 19# blue.

After that we moved back to the north by the pump station and drifted across the creek beds hunting trophies for one last hoo-raw. After a few more eaters one of my rods slammed down hard and I hooked into a monster hog! She pulled hard for a few minutes, then went slack. I thought I lost her and almost gave up...turns out she was doing what all great blues do....she was running hard and fast towards the boat. I reeled as fast as I could but couldnt keep up. She got about 15 feet from the boat and slammed on the brakes. That's all it took.....my monster hog snapped the 50lb leader like thread! Devastation rained down on my head and my heart was broken. Gary and I both believe I lost a 50-60 pound trophy bluecat.
Notwithstanding the one I lost, we had a terrific day and finished with 28 fish in the box and the 19# CPR. I also caught my first channel cat of the year.
Oh, by the way, supper was fantastic!!!!! Thanks to Gary and Mark Lewis for the awesome trip on an awesome catfishing lake.
