Sorry, not much in the way of fish to report--just a couple small ones off the dam and used the phone through the wp bag for those shots so some of the pics suck. I keep coming back to this place even though I do A LOT better elsewhere. Not sure why. Always enjoy the paddle there, though, even on a day with a little wind like today. Mainly just posting this to show anyone who's curious what the lake level is like after those rains a few weeks back. Happy to report it's full again. I think most of the smaller lakes got filled here recently. In contrast, Cedar Creek still has a long ways to go if the 175 bridge is any indication.
Also of note... The bait shop is back open under new ownership... The lady I talked to inside said that right now it's just open weekends but very soon it'll be open 7 days a week...
And is it just me or is it every weekend recently that we get one of these weak cold fronts on Friday afternoon, just in time for my one day of fishing on Saturday?

Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point.
Wow, I was there in December and paddled under the walkway on the west pier. I have 7' rods sticking straight up out of my crate and they were 8" from touching the walkway. What a difference a little rain makes. I'll have to get back down there soon.

I always do fairly well there but go during the week. I live two blocks from Cedar Creek and it is about 4.5 feet low when it used to be 8 feet low so it is doing better.
Not too shabby! Yep, definitely in that pattern now where it's hot one day cold the next...and either way the wind will howl when you want to go fishing.

I think we all have those lakes. For me it's Lake Gilmer. Some days I can't ever catch what I'm targeting but always have fun. Been skunked crappie fishing out there a few times only to beat the bass off of my minnows. Or have the biggest blue gill I've ever seen rip my Bob Garland baby shad to bits.
Regardless of the success I think those special bodies of water provide solace. They help us re-center ourselves and get that connection we need with the heartbeat of nature.

I have got way too many great memories on Purtis Creek to give up on it.
I'll be taking a new set of jugs down in about three weeks to fill the freezer while I TRY to find the crappie I used to get so easily there. My PB LMB was caught there. too, 10.26 lb.
I met you at the ramp that day. We both had about the same luck. Here is the biggest one I caught. She was a female in 8-10' feet of water. Nothing on t-rig or c-rig surprisingly enough.
