After getting a late start this morning to make sure the rain had completely past, me and a buddy finally started at LOP this morning about 9:45. We quit at 5:30 with 43 crappie and around 20 big barfish. We caught them on shiners in 16-21 FOW right off the bottom outside of Hurricane Creek. Glad of the results, especially with today's conditions, but it's not as good as we have been doing. The previous seven trips we caught limits

Oh, by the way we were drifting/easing around with the trolling motor. Water temp was pretty much 56 degrees all day long. Two days before, some guys I know said the water temp got up to 59. The lowest I have seen it this winter is 48 degrees, which didn't last long. The fish have not bunched up like they did last year (from what I have seen), I guess b/c of the lower temps last winter. Last winter we were trolling around with jigs and just murdered them, but we have caught very few with jigs this year, so we have resorted to drifting a 20' wide spread of rods with shiners and have caught a bunch of fish. Since we don't know where brush piles are and don't have side scan, this has worked pretty good since most of the fish have been pretty scattered. It also is taking longer on a per trip basis to catch limits this year.
