Met Old Coach at Oak Cove ramp Richland Chambers. We went from hero last trip to zero this trip. It was colder than expected and windier than expected. Tried 287 flats, marked fish but no takers, Tried around Pelican Island, Robert had one but got off before he landed it. No bites for me. Saw a guide boat in same area looks like they were bait fishing and catching some. Tried Ferguson point, no fish, tried Lighthouse, no fish. Went back to Pelican tried to anchor in the strong wind. Anchor broke off, lost anchor and all the rope. Managed to destroy a rod that was in a rod holder and got in the motor. Lost my hat on the way back to ramp.

Broke Pole

As always Robert thanks for inviting me and I had a great day fishing with you. Next time will be better we have no where to go but up.

Steve,

I called off our trips for today early this morning due to the strong North Wind. I've learned not to tempt fate when it comes to RC and a 20 MPH North Wind. Way too dangerous!

I had to make a trip to Corsicana and as I went over the Hwy 287 Bridge about 8 AM, I saw a CC Boat getting beat up as it headed up the Lake. Must have been you Guys! Can't believe you got out on the 'Ocean' today!!!

Easy limits on four trips this week with the Windsock, Pelican and the South Shoreline all producing on different days. Couldn't have fished any of them today.

Good Luck next time! Just make it a South Wind day! smile

Ditto that - I canceled today too - but as the morning and day unfolded it appeared the winds got lighter and lighter. Made me think I made the wrong call - Again. shocked

Mark,

You made the right call! Seems I'm always second guessing myself also when I cancel a trip. I checked on the Wind speed around Noon and it was still 15-20 MPH with an occasional gust. Too many good days to fish to tear up equipment and the "Old Body" on a chilly Winter day!

See you out there next week! Looks like a great week to fish with 10-12 MPH wind most days.

I guess we all 2nd guess our cancels.

I'm thinking about canceling tomorrow too (its forcasted again 15 to 25 from the North).

This time of year we can (most of the time) work around those windy days (I kind of hope they can tomorrow).

Yup that was us, we launced from Oak Cove around 8:00am. We were in a white Century center console. The boat handled the waves just fine, never felt in any danger, Robert knows how to drive that thing and took it slow. We just couldn't find fish or stay on them when we did.

Steve....

We saw you at Oak Cove. We were getting the boat ready around 11. We braved the rough day since we rarely get a free moment to fish. Tried staying out of the wind but found not a fish.

Went to Windsock and Pelican ISalnd and put 40 big sandies in the boat before we got to tired of taking the beating. The 13 year old though all the rough water was fun.

Still sore today, something happens after 50.
