What constitutes a car to be totaled from flood damge ? The reason I asked is my saturn car and me got washed of the road and pushed in a ditch tonight , the water got high enough to come in the bottom door shills . The motor is at least hydro locked . I just paid this car off last month , still have full coverage on it havnt even got the title back from the bank . Im just really concerned that farm bereau is gonna get me again

how much is it worth (blue book/going rate) vs. how much does it cost to fix the damage...the lesser of the two is what the insurance company will pay

Is your car tan? Saw a video on the news tonight that showed a Saturn getting pushed down the street by water.

Think it is usually when the damage is estimated to be at least 80% of book value. That's because they usually find more damage once they start repairing, so they like to total it out before they pay a mechanic to start repairing.

I don't know the legal definition but the damage done when the car gets wet inside can happen well after the fact. Once water gets into all the connectors and circuits in the car along with the metals that can be water damaged you just can't fix it.
IMO thats why they note a car thats been submerged as flood damaged. Things will keep happening in one of those cars even after any immediate damage has occured.

No mine is red and whats funny is the intersetion where it happend made front page of the paper this am. I pulled the air filter just to see it was soaked and had standing water plus water was running out the emc

I been with fb over ten years , the first wreck i ever had went horrible wasnt my fault and fb did nothing tp help me. I called my insurance man at the time and asked what do i need to do and i quote hes asked "was it my fault" and is aid no and then his response was " let me know how it turns out" and that was that

Did you have full coverage? I have had several different insurances and with full coverage they handle it, pay for my repairs then they get the money from the other guys insurance. Does it not work that way anymore?

That is when you should have fired your agent and found another FB agent that was willing to do his job. Your agent should have gone to bat for your with the adjustor and the other party's insurance company. He sounds like he was more interested in sitting back and collecting the money from your premiums instead of actually doing his job. Sometimes hitting their pocketbook is the only way to motivate them.

That's what I was thinking. Just haven't had any accidents in a long long time and the ones I did have was the other persons fault. Was kinda hoping an agent would jump in and state whether or not the game changed. I never have my car house and boat insurance with the same compnies for a reason. The savings to go with just one doesn't add up to enough for me to put all my eggs in one basket.
