I have made a coup le rod holders for other boats, using treated plywood and carpet, I never really liked using wood, I finally found a plastic material 3/8" thick, yet easy to drill and cut and neat enough i don't need to cover it in carpet. Anyone want to guess what I used?

Exactly right! a 7.95 cutting board from Walmart, I trimmed it so it fit inder the lip real tight by taping on it with a rubber mallet. I will do the rod tip end tomorrow and post pictures. Only difference is I slide 3' long 1 1/4" PVc in each hole and glue a end cap on so the pvc don't push thru, that way my rods dont get tangled. Also I will use commercial grade contact cement to glue the end caps to the plastic board.

The Golf bag tubes work good for the tip end also. They sell them cheap at Walmart .

Not enough holes for all my rods and reels. I just put them in rod socks to save the tips & guide eyes and we're ready to go.
