Spring is best as far as I know.I don't fish for flatheads that much so I could be wrong.

Wait for the water temps to hit the mid to upper 60's and get after em. Bullheads are top notch flatty bait as well as perch. Prespawn you can get away with using just about any rig.... 60+ lb leader is a must!

lol, well i can supply the bait if u ever want to go out and tear em up somewhere, i can get hand sized gills and 4 to 9 inch give or take bullheads and i know a place that i hooked one that actually wasnt hooked just holding on the perch halfway that dang near broke an ocen heavy st croix rod at the butt i reeled the line in discobered the scales were gone in about a 1.5inch section about .5 inches apart from each other it was huge if u ever want to hit it up its on private property but i have permission to fish it from the home owners association

It was a blast. Never in my life had I seen a fish hit so hard or run so fast with the bait as the 58 that bankfisher caught. I thought it was going to break the rod.
