Why don't they make faucets that stick out more than two inches. I hate it when I try to wash my hands and can't cause my hands keep hitting the back of the sink. Is there a reason they can't make a faucet that reaches out to the middle of the sink?

You can't stick your head in it or wash a baby in it if it sticks out to the middle of the sink. I assume you are talking bathroom faucet and not kitchen faucet.

In some public bathrooms with knobs instead of buttons I found turning up the water pressure helps.

If you're agile enough, try washing your hands in the toilet bowl and then flush with your chin.

I'm talking about both. our kitchen faucet goes way up and high as to get over the edge of a tall pot or pan, but you're lucky if the water will make it into the pot as it only is about three inches away from the base of the faucet.

And most restroom faucets are about three inches long.

Well while you are alone, go down to Home Depot, and pick out a faucet that socks out more than 3" from the edge of the sink and install it.

You won't think about being alone and you will have one less thing to complain about!

I'm talking more about public restrooms. My kitchen sink is ok, could stick out just a bit more, but made sure it was high enough and far enough before I bought it.

Are you telling me when you try and wash your hands you aren't smashing your hands into the side of the sink?

The first sink water goes straight down. The second sink the water goes straight out towards the middle. Thats 1974 vs 2012. I promise you the newer does not shoot straight down

The spout on newer faucets with raised sinks the water flows outward.

Older faucets and sinks the water flows downward

I now see what you are saying about the raised sinks. I don't have any of those fancy deals, nor do the places I visit. My church has the worse examples. I bet if you turn on the water there is less than 2" from the water to the back side of the sink. It is like that in every sink, save for the ones in the kitchen.

Simple solution: don't pee on your hands, then you won't need to wash 'em.
