On first look it seems to be a better design. Its bigger and the buttons are spread out. The have white emblems on them and are much easier to see and they click when pressed and released cricket style. The screen is slightly larger and easier to see (for us old geezers). And you only need a quarter to open the battery compartment to change the battery. I presume it is water proof and floats like the old one did.


The rubber button cover for left turn cracked on my original unit and you could see to the interior which made it not water tight, so I called Minn Kota customer service. They first offered to replace it in kind so I inquired about getting the new redesigned remote. He said it would cost me $20.00. What a no brainer. I'm Looking forward to trying it out. But not this weekend. SUPER BOWL!

This left turn button cracking seems to be a problem. Know 3 more that have same problem. Trying to get mine replaced hope it works out as well as yours did.

Hey Outf, let me know if they let you upgrade too. It would be worth $20 to have buttons I could see. Heck might be worth $50.

No upgrade just sending the top half of the remote. Said the new works with the old series but doesnot give you the extra memory. I can work mine in the dark so $20 for white buttons makes no matter to me.
