I wouldn’t go that far. Still Nesmith is the Monkee actually could write songs.
Joanne was on of the tracks on an album entitled
Magnetic South by a group lead by Nesmith which was entitled
The First National Band. Nesmith is credited as being one of the founders of country-rock, and I think rightfully so. My Dad loved
Joanne. It was the first of many songs from the 70s that we both loved. The summer after Rocky Mountain High came out my folks and I went on a vacation in Colorado. This when I was sixteen. I cameback home with the full set of RMH gear; Raichle Montagna boots, and four buffalo plaid shirt-jackets (green/black, yellow/black, blue/black, and gray/black). I had already found the perfect cowboy hat for that era at The Standard Hat Works on Washington Ave. in Waco. I bought directly from Mr. and Mrs. Martian who were the owners at that time.
