So I just found out that my go-to Shimano super-tuner has since gone back to graduate school and is not servicing reels at this time. I called Southwestern and they said if I get the kit, they can install.....

Any other resource for super-tuning chronarchs in the metro mess that I should consider?

I tune my own. I had a gold SF that I took out of a reel bag and put a rod recently. Couldn't get any distance, so I did the usual stuff-polish the brake race, ends of the spool shaft, part of the shaft that passes through the pinion gear, thorough cleaning, synthetic lube on the bearings. Nada. I fished another trip with it and was going to swap bearings, when suddenly it started backlashing. I reset everything like it was tuned, and it started singing a happy song. When I got home, I found that I had put Boca Lightning Ceramic bearings in it, and had never broken them in. Now it's really working great.
