Just got access to a 20 acre spring fed lake in East Texas. Lake built and stocked four years ago. When they built the lake they left the brush piles.

How would some of you experts "tackle" (pun intended) this body of water with artificials?

My buddy whose FIL owns it uses only minnows and when I get down there in a couple of weeks I really want to wear his arse out. Well maybe not too bad.......I DO want to be invited back.

You would not believe this place. The crappie are HUGE but you have a hard time catching them for all of the four and five pound LMB in the lake.

Thanks for your advice.

And no you can't go, I had to give up my first born male child to get in my ownself! LOL

My mom has a pond like that on her property, and they get fished so little...everything you throw at them....They eat!! But.... I do have to fight off the bass quite a bit!!!
This time of year I have had good luck with a 1/16 lead head with grey chenille and a red hackle tail in her pond.

I would say the smaller the better but my daughter just caught a LMB with a trout hook and crappie nibble while trying to get some perch. Guess you'll just have to 'suffer' through 4/5lb bass, poor guy.

A few years ago a buddy and I were long pole jigging on RR and he hooked up with what turned out to be around an 9#+ LM. There was a 20" BassPro Special nosing into the creek when he caught it and the guy in the boat caught it all.

My buddy holds up the bass and lays out a few choice words that you would not want your momma to hear about "trash fish" and tosses the bass back in the water.

The look on the wanna be pro bass angler was one for the books!
