Here is the 2012 schedule/rules. Given the recent rains the first three hopefully will be good to go. Waco, with its present water level, is the season backup for any tournament. The hours vary tournament to tournament due to sunrise (safety and travel) and likely temperatures. We're out to have fun and fish, but not get a heat stroke! In terms of payouts, I have consciously chosen to pay out more places to help spread out everyone's cost of fishing.

Centex Crappie Series 2012

Four Tournaments with Individual and Season Series Payouts

April 28th – Belton – Bell County Sportsman’s Club – Hours: 7:00-2:00
June 30th – Granger – Taylor Park - Hours: 6:30 - 12:30
August 25th– Waco – Speegleville Park – Hours: 7:00 – 12:30
Sept. 29th - Stillhouse Hollow – Dana Peak Park –– Hours: 7:15 - 2:00
(All Lakes, Dates, and Times will be Subject to Water Levels and Conditions and the Weather)

$50 entry fee per team per tournament - 95% Payback at each event (85% team, 10% - Big Crappie) with the remaining 5% going towards the series Champion prize. There will be Junior Angler Prizes (16 and under) at each event.

Sample Payout (based on 10 team entry – Email me for full schedule):
1st - $220
2nd - $110
3rd - $70
4th - $25
Big Fish- $50
Remaining $25 goes to series Champion prize

If there are five teams or less (smallest last season was 8), then First place takes 65% of the entry money and Second 25% after the big fish (No Series Money).

Contact Lucas Loafman (254-289-9821 or lloafman@Hotmail.com) for any questions and be sure to check the Crappie section of the Texas Fishing Forum for any changes or updates. (www.texasfishingforum.com)

Centex Summer Crappie Trail Rules
1. All tournaments will cost $50 to enter per team. 95% of the money goes towards that tournament, including any expenses of the tournament such as a pavilion rental fee, with the remaining 5% carrying over to the series prizes. It is strongly preferred that the money be mailed or dropped off to the tournament director, Lucas Loafman, at 8615 Nighthawk Cir Temple, TX 76502 a week before any tournament. I will not be able to take money at a launch site the day of the tourney due to USACE rules, but I may be available to meet under certain conditions outside the park. Please call me at 254-289-9821 to discuss any issues as far in advance as possible.
2. You may enter alone or with the partner(s) of your choice. Teams may consist of three people if at least one member of the team is under the age of 17 (16 and under). Practice is allowed until sundown Friday the day before the tournament. There are no off limits periods during the week prior. Spectators are not allowed in boat with the team during tournament hours.
3. Tournament waters shall be defined as areas open to all participants of the event and accessible by normal navigational means only. Fishing within 50 feet of a marina gas pump or within 50 feet of a competitor’s boat without permission from the first boat on that spot is prohibited. A safe and courteous distance should be maintained when trolling motors are in use. Any violation of off limits water will result in disqualification. When fishing bridges, another boat may fish the next set of horizontal pilings regardless of spacing.
4. The decision to cancel or postpone a tournament is in the sole discretion of the tournament director after factoring in weather and competitor concerns. If a flooding or drought event happens, the tournament location may be shifted by the tournament director. In the event of a cancellation or a move of the tournament, tournament entry fees will be refunded if you choose not to participate.
5. Teams may start fishing (line in water) anywhere on the lake at the time designated by the tournament director and all lines must be out of the water by the designated stopping time. The designated stop and start times may vary due to weather conditions so check the Texas Fishing Forum or call Lucas at 254-289-9821 for the latest information. You will have 30 minutes from the designated stopping time to be in the weigh in line. One partner is allowed to weigh in the fish, but both must be present within 45 minutes of the stopping time.
6. All team members must remain in boat while fishing. If one partner exits the boat to use the RR or for whatever reason, all team members must stop fishing until that partner returns. 2 kayaks may count as one boat, but they must remain within 50 feet of each other at all times. No bank fishing is allowed.
7. Teams may use rod and reel combos, hand held pole and reel combos or hand held poles. There is a limit of 4 poles per team (up to 2 hooks or baits per pole) in use at any one time regardless of the number of team members.
8. Live and artificial bait may be used.
9. Crappie must be hooked and landed with a rod or pole by team member(s). Crappie must be hooked through the lip or in the mouth. (No foul hooking) Landing nets may be used.
10. Teams must comply with all state fishing and boating regulations. The use of PFDs and kill switches is highly recommended and required by law depending on age. Fishing and boating licenses are the responsibility of team members.
11. A team may not weigh-in more than 7 crappie and 6 of those 7 crappie must be alive when entering the official weigh-in line. Any team presenting more than 7 crappie will lose its largest fish until the number of seven is weighed. You may weigh additional dead crappie (after 1 with no penalty), but it will subject the team to a ˝ pound penalty per additional dead fish. Alive or dead will be determined by the tournament director.
12. All crappie brought to the scales for weigh-in must have been caught during the tournament hours from tournament waters by the team bringing them to the scales.
13. All crappie presented for weigh-in must meet state length requirements for the state in which they are being weighed and may not have any weight enhancements. Any team bringing an illegal crappie to the weigh-in line will be disqualified.
14. In the event of a tie, money and points will be split between the two teams.
15. Protests must be made in writing to the tournament director within 30 minutes following the end of the official weigh-in. All protests must cite the rule number(s) allegedly broken.
16. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be consumed during tournament hours.
17. NO ONE can be hired or compensated in any way to fish with you during the tournament.
18. Instances of poor sportsmanship may be grounds for disqualification if the tournament director deems it appropriate.
19. No hole sitting by competitor or non-competitor boat during the tournament.
20. Series champion: Points towards the series champion will be awarded on a 10 point scale, with first at each event receiving 10 points and 10th receiving 1. All boats outside of the top 10 will receive 0 points. Your team is determined by the 1st tournament. If a planned team member is unavailable for the1st tournament, the tournament director must be notified prior to the tournament of the intended team. If a team member is unavailable for a tournament, only a junior angler may be substituted and still accumulate points towards the championship.

They get any parking signs up at the sportsman center yet?,,, seems some folks get way bent out of shape when you park in the wrong area over there> why not hold the weigh in in a public place, like Cedar Ridge? lots of space over there, and no real benifit to having it at the sportsman center that I could tell, most people didnt launch there, and had to cut fishing time short to trailer over there. whats the reason for weigh in there? Cedar Ridge has 2 huge parking areas, bathrooms close by, a marina, nice ramps, central location on the lake, ect.

Can I write you a $200.00 check to pay for my teams entry fees for all 4 tournies? Makes it easier for us. We will be there for all the tournies, Good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise to high. (or dry out)

At cedar ridge they make you rent a pavilion, plus it is a zoo on the weekends. Our permit actually says Rogers. Leona work? I just put it where we have always always had the tourney the last few years. I like the Sportsman's club because we can get out of the way of the other boaters more easily. It really doesn't matter to me.

I think most folks will launch at Leona anyway, so it would just be so much easier to go dock or beach the boat, and walk to the weigh in, rather than stress out abt getting the boat up, running over to another park ect. easier on you too, for weigh in set up. your already at a disadvantage having to go set that up. Also, if you like, we could take turns setting up the weigh in, so you dont always have to be the one scrambling. I will voulenteer to set up the first one.

Unless the weather is bad, on April 28th, both Rogers and Leona parking lots will be full at weigh-in time. As far as beaching boats, there's nothing but rocks right now at Leona to beach your boat on. I'll be putting mine on the trailer. At Rogers, there is a sand bar right now to beach your boat. Everything could change if we get more runoff from rains.

Ken does make a good point about Leona...everyone would have to trailer their boat there regardless due to rock..no beaching. Rogers is definitely out.

When we set it up all lakes were loooow. Now just SH is low, but its just under 3 feet down. Even when we fished it last year in July it was already 10 low. Should be completely different conditions this year as the lakes will be fished with more water and or in different seasons.
