I was thinking about thisdriving down the road yesterday.

Both dominated when they were younger.
Both were champions at an early age.
Both then lost the stabilizing force in their life.
Both then let the girls' fun parts dominate their lives.
Both had SEVERE scene control problems.
Both were out of their prospective sport for a while.
The "Field" caught up with both of them.
Tyson never quite ragained his form, while Tiger is trying to make it back.
Tyson never did win at the Championship level again and there's no guarantee that Tiger will either (other than the one that MM is gonna give).

What say you?

Tyson was a one trick pony...hell of trick though.

Tiger is the probably the best the game has ever seen.

When Tyson was coming up, and even as a Champion, he was getting to that level, too!

The great difference is that Tyson was or is an animal the raped a girl and went to prison.
Tiger paid for prostitutes. That is one heck of a difference.

Tiger is 34 and golfs. Has about 15 years left to play and after four tournaments is back to the top 20 in the world. The book I's half written. No comparison

Do you think Tiger will ever win another major?

Tyson's book was half written too and look what happened to that fool!

Being in the top 20 in the world was where both of 'em are when they came off of their hiatuses.

Tiger had to be the hardest working athlete of a time. Dude changed his swing, fired his swing coach to be better for longer. Mine Tyson just talked smack.

IMO Tiger is the best athlete of all time in all of sports. Not only do I think he will win a major but he will break Jacks record

I think golf has caught up to him and it's gonna be too tuff! When Tiger was doing what he did, he was much younger. Now, he's playing against guys that are younger, stronger, as, if not more skilled, and HUNGRIER than he is.

If he doesn't ever get back on top, the very top, his story will be just like Mike Tyson's, but with alot more money.

Tiger is not, nor will he ever be, the greatest golfer of all time.

He has skillz for sure but he has wasted his chance.

He is still a POS and will always be in my mind.

You are what you do, in all facets of life.

I think that when you look at Tyson's and Tiger's stories objectively, there are some real similarities in their carrer paths, and poosibly their career endings.

Tiger was brought up with privilege and played in high class arenas throughout his career. His dad was his great mentor and Tiger was in the limelight and the people he met all through his life were high class people. He was a child prodigy which kept him in the best circles in Golf.

He blew it not because he does not play the game as good. He blew it when he took his upbringing and family and put them second to his sex life.

Mike Tyson was just the opposite. His dad left when he was very young and his mom struggled to support and maintain the family. They lived in the opposite end of the social class from Tiger Woods.
Tyson lost his mom at 16 and his trainer became his mentor.

Comparing a boxers upbringing to a golfers is kind of odd too. Not many think a boxer and golfer have the same standards. The boxer is a game of violence when golfing is more finesse and high class.

I think Tyson's upbringing weighed heavily on his later life. I think in the brain department Tiger was light years ahead also.
Nothing excuses either of their choices. Tiger was the one who should have known better though if a comparison is made.

Tyson was a brawler not a boxer, a brawler with his attitude will beat a boxer. Tyson fought some really big strong guys with good boxing skills and made it look easy, his attitude and style allowed that to happen. His personal life got in the way too early, but his time was coming soon anyway. It was just a matter of time before someone who could fight a brawler would come along and age would factor in.

Tiger in my opinion is one of the best golfers in the world, based on what he has already done..and i see more wins coming from him. what I cant see is Tiger ever dominating again, but its not because his head isnt right or a coach. Golf isnt a sport where its against the other golfer, its a battle against yourself and making few mistakes, These younger guys who are playing so well would be playing this well no matter If tiger took time off or how much his personal life got in his head. I agree they have caught up with him. They are shooting low scores that tiger had when he was dominating. Tiger used to have that extra something he could pull out for a win, now that others have gotten better he has to go all out all the time now and it causes more mistakes than normal. Tiger is going to win more, I think he will break the majors record, but his wins will be farther apart than they once were and he will never again be dominant not because of a mental thing, just because his competition is a lot better than they used to be.

Wrong. For one the hardest working athlete in history is probably someone we will never know as such. He had a lesser talent but worked harder than anyone in history.
How could you possibly say this about Tiger. He was a prodigy at 3. Gifted and excelled throughout his childhood. How you do in your sport has nothing to do with how hard you worked to get there.
Also golf is NOT the sport at which I would guess the hardest working athlete in history would come from. Thats funny.

MM, for someone so in love with TW, I can't believe you don't know how old he is. Tiger is 36 and will be 37 on December 30th of this year.

Listen to the haters. Once again the OT knows nothing! This will be one of the greatest two years of golf....because of Tiger.....again.

How do you poeple continue to underestimate Tiger?

Hes a black golfer that shot even par at 8. Hes done at 36? lol DID YOU FREAKING WATCH THE LAST TWO TOURNEYS HE HAS PLAYED IN? HE TIED FOR FOURTH AT THE MASTERS IN 2011 while battling injuries. 5 years from now nobody will remember the whores, He will go down as the greatest athlete of all time and possibly the greatest closer in all of sports. Tiger lives on another level than every golfer to ever play, mentally and physically. He is also the most valuable athlete in the world when it comes to money to this day. Enjoy

As for Mike Tyson, do I really need to talk about him? He bit a dudes ear off when he was losing and raped a woman. He went to prison for crying out loud
