Ok, as you all know mom is in the Hospital, they are telling me that now she can go to Rehab for her left leg, since it was removed just above the knee. The Rehab place wants me to sign over her Medicare/Medicaid to them. Now she also has BC/BS as her suppliment. The last time she was in Rehab, they billed medicare and BC/BS for her stay. Now this place is also a assisted living place and nursing home combined. If I sign everything over to them and in lets say 45 days she can come home then we have to do all the paper work to get everything back as it is now. She will also have to do a Spend down of her assists or sign them over to them also.


Any Suggestions ?

I'm sorry your going through this and wish I could help. I dang sure wouldn't sign anything over to them without talking to an attorney. I am sure they want you to hurry up and sign everything over, but I bet they wouldn't be in a hurry to do the same for you. I don't understand why she would need to sign over anything since she has insurance coupled with the medicare...I also don't like the spending down of her assets. Are they planning on her living there from now on, or what?

When I had to put Mom in a nursing home I had to assign everything to the home because they were taking care of all her needs. All her SS, Medicare, and Medicaid went to the home. She got $45 a month to personal items and her supplemental was paid out of her check. All of her living and health expenses were covered. That is the only way she was able to enter the home.

attorney, don't give them total control. she might be in there forever if you do.

WOW got that taken care of, had a eye to eye talk with the administrator and she saif they thought she was coming in for Long time care, plus rehab. I had them shred all that paperwork and redo it. Everything is on an even keal now. Mom doesn't have to sign anything over as her insurance will pay for everything.

What a load off my shoulders now.
