I noticed rust on the brackets that attach the bunk to the trailer of my 2005 trailer. I was shocked to find out ALL WERE ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH you could break them in half by hand...Called RANGER to see if there was a recall,,,The sales person (didnt seem to care) He said,,''well that is a 7 year old boat''.......WTF!... I have 3 other trailers from 10-20 years old that dont have a speck of rust.. He said thay now use galvanized...REALLY!... Check your trailers.

Mine are rusted on my 02 as well. Just got the boat. I ordered 8 new ones since the front four weren't near as bad. No big deal if you catch it. Honestly the trailer should be checked for this annually.

Have them made of stainless steel and use stainless hardware. I'm getting ready to have my trailer copied in all stainless. Yes it is heavier and way stronger than the soft regular steel so the reduction in size offsets the weight. Stainless is forever no tough coat needed. I plan to keep my boat until death.

If rust is an issue, I would consider an all aluminum trailer. There are many on the market, but McClain's is here in Texas and makes a really nice trailer.

Ranger. I paid $39 for 12 galvanized, I had 4 nuts I had to cut off,, so plan to stop by the hardware store as well (get stainless steel).
