Who is on your team and where are they located? I have been considering joing a team (maybe), but I don't want to be on a team where everyone is within 300 miles of each other. Doesn't it work better if the teams are diverse? This would be my first year doing it

Lol.... Trash talk already. I love it. This is going to be a lot of fun. I'm going to be pretty busy but I'm going to make time for this. I look at it as kind of a way of keeping a journal of the fishing I'm doing. It should be a valuable tool for setting future goals. I still have a lot of learning with kayaking and bass fishing and this will be great to get me to where I want to be.

Something I have found is that this tournament has me fishing for species I would normally not target. I have really come to enjoy battling huge gar and carp.

You guys that fish KW......how many times per week are you out on the water? I usually get out 2-4 times per month and occassionally maybe more. Between fishing several different tournament series on the weekends, and doing my pre-fishing for them on my weekdays off, I'm not sure I have time to go out and target new types of species.

during the summer ill fish maybe 4 or 5 times a week...think i went 2 1/2 weeks straight one time

I checked out the website and agree this sounds very interesting and potentially a lot of fun. I also am looking at it as a possible way to document my fishing ... my problem is that due to work travel and "life in general", I am potentially looking at being able to get out and "yak-fish" only 2-4 times a month ... a lot more when possible, but couldn't commit to more than that.

I was wondering if anyone is interested in forming a non-hardcore team. Kind of getting our feet wet and seeing how this goes? If so, feel free to pm me.

Some people may take this more serious then others. For me its all about fun and fishing.

In the summer I usually get to fish 2 times a week. Rest of the year, maybe 2-4 times per month just like you. There are guys you're competing against that are guides who are on the water probably 3-4 times as much as most of the rest of us. To say that beating them is impossible is LOSER TALK... (but in all honesty it would be really hard considering the amount of time they get to fish). That's why when The BassKickers win this year, it'll be special!

Seriously though, like some have said, it almost serves as a kind of fishing log that they keep track of for you. There's camaraderie with the other guys on the team, some trash talking on the site if you're so inclined, it forces you to sometimes go outside of your comfort zone, and even if you're not on REALLY big bass, it helps keep you focused a little more to earn a few extra points for the guys. In short, yeah your chances of winning are slim against the super hardcore teams that have guides and/or 20 year old kids with no obligations beyond maybe a few classes each week fishing for them. Can't blame them. If I had the time & opportunity I'd fish a lot more myself, so I just kind of take it for what it is: fun. Last year when I caught some big crappie, drum, cats and bowfin while bass fishing it was a kick knowing they'd count for the team. I targeted cats once and pulled out the crappie rod once all year. Rest of the time it was all about the bass.
