I have been fishing or a while ive caught a few gar before. but i want to know any ideas for gar bait. last time i cought em i tok a jig head and burnt some nylon on to it a couple inches of nylon and then fraid it.the nylon would get caught in there teeth.

I've heard of that and using live perch on a hook. Also heard for the big ones use cut carp. Beat it real good to get the meat bloody before you cut it and then use a big chunk of meat on a big circle hook.

I catch them accidentally when bass fishing on squarebill cranks, spinnerbaits, and traps.

Any dead and shredded bait will do esp. cut up carp, cut up drum, or cut up Gizzard shad. Every time those thing hits- I keep thinking--- dammmms…that is one huge stripper. I like it when they run buck wild and shake like crazy in the water. After I landed them, they always get the boot back into the water…those teeth are scary!

Any cut bait and a treble hook

hmm ive never heard of cutting up carp for bait. the other day i accidently hooked one on a soft body worm bait. thats what sparked my question cause now i wanna get em again. they r so much fun to catch.

now that i think about i just donated blood. i may be needin that back pretty soon ,going after them gar.

I have caught a few gator gar on cut buffalo and a 8/0 circle hook.

dead bloody carp and hold on, beat it up real good to max out the blood in the water......
