Since I had such a rushed trip out on Monday, the wife and I took off a little early yesterday and headed back to Marshall Creek for a more extended "get to know ya" run with the new Pungo.

Weather was perfect, hard to believe it was the first day of February, water was like glass for most of the trip, and the water is starting to clear up a little finally. Paddled from around 4:00 to right at 6:00. Headed upstream from the boat launch and probably travelled around 1 1/2 to 2 miles each way. Lots of turtles sunning on exposed logs and saw probably 5 or 6 beavers during the trip.

Since we had some extra time this trip, I did take a pole and some tackle with me ... didn't fish a lot, but had a little luck with the sandies. Pics are of the first fish in the new yak.

Nice! Marshall Creek looks like a nice place for a short trip. I have never been there, but I live pretty close. Is the boat ramp on Trophy park Drive? Any fees?

Park entrance is at the end of Trophy Park Drive (I think that's the road). Signs will lead you to the boat ramp from there. $1 entry fee for vehicles, $5 I think if you are pulling a trailer. Automated entry system. Only bad thing is the park closes at 6pm this time of year (according to the signs). I'm always late leaving and paranoid that one of these days they are going to lock the gate on me.

The park closes for entry access at 6pm, but you can stay as late as you want. The exit gate/arm will open for you to leave after 6pm. I thought the same as you when I 1st started going there. Always in a hurry back to leave before 6pm for fear of being locked in. OBTW, congrats on getting your yak slimed for the 1st time thumb

Congrats on sliming your new yak...and for having a wife who is cool enough to kayak with you.

I have no doubt that you and your new Pungo 120 had a most excellent maiden voyage. All I can say is welcome to the Pungo family. If not already, she will become your favorite kayak.

Bring 'em out soon for one of our Thursday evening Hydro-Therapy sessions at White Rock Lake! BTW, the concerts begin in May.

Looking forward to it ... will probably have to wait until the time changes and the days are longer, but as soon as "Father Sun" allows, we'll be there!
