He's Title drunk. I would be too. Let him keep drinking the kool-aid. He deserves it.

As long as he finds his shot by the playoff they'll be ok.

Every team just about makes the playoffs. Let him have this title hangover.

I think he is playing with pain. I think he is hurt. He was limping last night. We will probably never hear that publicly but that doesnt mean he isnt.

i like this term, title hangover. it finally makes sense, after winning a title in '99, '03, '05, and '07, tim duncan is just having one big title hangover.

His knee is hurt. This is why he sat out 4 straight games before the SA game. I like this teams chances if they can get to the playoffs. Still playing good defense and that is what won it for us last year

its hard to win back to back titles unless you are Jordan or Kobe. even Duncan didn't do it. they should make the playoffs, but im not sure the chemistry is there yet to make it to the finals this year. Carlisle still hasn't shown any consistency with all those different players.

This team can't beat Miami without Chandler and Stevenson. It was a great run last year and more fun than I ever thought I'd have watching the NBA, but Mahinmi, Haywood and Ye are not a replacement for Tyson Chandler. Look at the past 12 NBA champions. Every one of them has had at least an above average NBA center. Interior defense in basketball is like an ace pitcher in baseball. You can win some regular season games, but making a championship postseason run without it is almost impossible. Ask the Rangers.

The only thing they have going for them is that the West is so incredibly weak this year. OKC is the only team that looks any good at all right now, and the Mavs can definitely beat them in a 7-game series if Dirk figures his stuff out. But they can't take the Bulls, Heat or whoever comes out of the east without interior defense.

All that being said, this is a different team without Jason Kidd. Roddy is fine, but Kidd is a huge asset that we don't have right now. I agree with whoever else said that Dirk should enjoy his title hangover. The regular season doesn't matter in the NBA. Just get hot at playoff time.

Duncan is old and slow now, no hangover. Don't think the Spurs will win another for awhile.

There was a hint of sarcasm in my post Marty, Dirk had a great year last year but he sure as heck isn't getting younger. Getting slow is part of the game, to blame it on a championship hangover is ridiculous. I of course was saying that if hangovers are part of the logic being used, then Duncan must be having one really long hangover after a steady decline since the last of four in 2007 championship.

Gotcha, and do agree. Some lose hunger after getting their ring. Not sure that is Dirks case but have seen it in other players.

Couldnt agree more. He stands around more than any player I can remember watching. Next time you go to a game, focus just on Odom when he's on the court and you'll see what I am talking about.

I for one am disappointed in how Odom has played but you have to look at the circumstances. This is an incredibly unique season with 4-5 games per week. And he came to the Mavs after spending the better part of a decade in LA. With no training camp he was thrown into the fire to compete at a high level. And its not like they are 5-18. The Mavs are doing some things wrong but are also doing a lot of things right. They will make the playoffs and then its game on.

Odom is getting $8,200,000 to play 66 games this year. Training camp or no training camp, he should be in shape when the season starts. I don't think that's too much to ask for someone who makes more per game than most of us make all year ($124k per game).

It might be really fun at the end of the season to figure out how much he made per minute played or per basket. He's not even getting many minutes in some of these games because Carlisle can only take so much of it. I can hardly watch him too. It's a painful sight.
