Hey I know what its like looking for some help on here and not finding it. I am from Refugio which is between Corpus and Port A. I have a boat so I fish Copano Bay, Aransas Bay, the rivers, and Laguna Madre most of the time, but if I was going to bull reds at this time of the year I would try the surf at Mustang Island, Bob Hall, or the Packary Channel. I would use finger mullet if you can find any or cut bait.

I wish I fished Corpus Christi so that I could help you out, but from what I have heard is whole mullet into the surf. Couple weeks back caught a bull black drum out of deep channel in the ICW with a whole mullet. Best of luck to you!

Fished the surf on Mustang Island Tuesday. I thought with not much wind, the surf would be calm.....was I wrong. We ended up with a couple Whiting. Came back across and fished the Aransas Channel and caught a dozen more.
Not sure about the Reds right now. I do know the fog has been bad! So if you go out, be very careful. I fished the Aransas Channel again yesterday, and the fog was in and out. Couldn't believe how some folks run in the fog.

Don't take it personal, but... I won't spread out a "fish here on the X" information so that every potlicker with a computer will be waiting there the next time I go out.

aw hell Pat, why not, i do it all of the time, the Rockport ski basin is one of the best kept secrets on the coast, no need for a rough ride across the bays when you have thousands of fish right there at your finger tips all kept up in the ski basin. no need to leave the ski basin. leave the boats at home, just kayak all over that ski basin. ski basin. in rockport. lots of fish.

The title to the thread is a turn off to getting help. Maybe change it? I have never fished Corpus or I would be more than willing to help out. The best advise I can offer is to find a Good guide that has a reputation of putting his clients on fish and that is willing to teach his clients the "How To's" yes guides can be expensive but think of it as more than a fishing trip. Think of it as an educational expense. Hmmmm. I wonder if it could be tax deduct-able if an invoice stated it as education?

I'm probably one of the best *sports* you'll ever meet. But, expecting someone to mark a "Fish here" X on a map for the world to come help you catch all those nasty redfish is highly unlikely.
Send me a PM, and I'll spill my guts...Ask anyone who's done it.

Wondering if anyone knows where to catch big reds in Corpus? Wow............. To try to help you out, if you are looking for over sized reds, I'd suggest you look at the Port Aransas Jetties just about year around. Fish an outgoing tide, preferable early morning or late afternoon. You'll hook plenty of 30+" fish. Best fishing is April-ish through early December, maybe into January if the water temps aren't too cold. Also suggest the surf from September through early spring. So for right now through March or so that's where I'd suggest to fish. Big cut baits in the second gut or further out for reds can work. Those would be my first two choices for over sized redfish. Hope this helps.
