Hey everybody, Here's a quick update on the fishing, post monsoon. The lake is up about 3ft and is slightly over 2ft low. Current surface temp was 53. All the hull-busters that were barely out of the water are now hidden but hopefully everybody has them marked. On a side note, I'm going to get all the stumps I have marked and keep a running list so all the new folks can stay safe. Gonna work on that tomorrow hopefully.

With all that rain and mud flowing into the lake it really killed the fishing last week. I dont think I have ever seen the water so stained. We worked hard at it and still eeked out a few fish but it was tough. BUT....This is a new week with great weather forecasted, rising water temps and light wind. Should be fantastic!

Got out today with high expectations of some hungry fish and it didn't disappoint. Caught somewhere around 30-40 fish before this came in:

Very cool site but it absolutely SHUT DOWN the fish for the rest of our time out...except for these little monsters.

The bite today was definitely not what it was the last 2-3 weeks but it was steady. Lots of fish but the size dropped. But still a relief after the slop of a week since last Wednesday thumb I'm guessing that it's going to steadily pick back up as the week goes on until the spawn gets going full throttle. With these warmer temps and lack of a decent cold snap, this thing may get going SOON! We did keep a few for a weekend fish fry but threw back about as many.

I'm still running the $100 a head special for anybody who wants to get out. (no minimum # of people needed to book) Let's get out there and get em!

Thanks for the report Paul. It looked like great weather for a few hours this afternoon. And did I hear more rain is coming?

See you out there.

Great report Paul... That little fish looks like it's saying, "Can you take me to Geoff? He's got my Momma!" Looks like Friday is the rain day and cooler weekend. Happy Fishing.

I too really enjoy your reports. How deep were you fishing. Or were you able to work the birds.

Sorry Austin, didn't know you were such a fan of red carpet. I'm more of an anti-carpet person myself rolfmao

Slick Tile is best but if u do have to have carpet, it at least needs to be very low cut and have a nice grain to it.

Hey there folks, just getting off the water from an absolutely FANTASTIC day with first time customer, Larry.  I'll let a few pics speak for themselves.  We whacked em till we just didn't feel like whackin em no more. Probably caught 50-60 big keeper sandbass and a few under hybrid. I think them giant sandies ran the hybrid off!

Still running the $100 a head special...who wants it?

Here's Larry with the first double.

Got stupid with it and slammed a triple!

Big sandy of the day @ 15"

And it wouldn't be a Bombay post without a graph pic!

Mike, I had heard rumors that ur boat has thick, lucious carpet all over. VIP talked about it a few times but I ignored his prattling on cause I figured he had no direct knowledge of your carpeting situation. Now I know different...he knew all along. Oh the humanity!

Only one hybrid was boated today and guess who caught it....yep, its mr. Ray "Ladies man" Hubbard!!

The weather was iffy wet this morning but I decided to call Bombay to see if has a spot for me and Paul happily said come on out and he'll pick me up at 9:30 at Chandlers. Ray, Clay were with Paul when Bombay picked me up. They boated 16 sandies since morning... so we headed back South. By noon we had 3-man limit of sandies, and one hybrid. We decided to take a break and go eat at Primos and then fish another 2 hrs afterward, hunting for hybrids and C&R more magnums. It was a agreat day of fishing with friends, thanks for making room for me Paul!!

Total fish was 100+ sandies and one big hybrid. Water temp 54-55 degrees. Winds10-12mph SSE. Depht were 40 ft at South, and 27 ft up North.

I was fishing suspended for hybrids but the magnums kept stealing my flukes all day grin

Paul, I saved you some fish heads and egg sacks (roes), come over before the possums get them!! That "rooster" sauce is the bomb. Its also called sriracha sauce made in california thumb You notice the nice filets my wife did with a regular filet knife?? It only takes her 10-15 minutes PER fish...its "my way" wife

Got to the dock this morning and man was it windy. Customers Michael and Sarah got there and we decided to give it a try anyways. I kinda figured it was gonna be a list cause rolfmao we tried some protected areas and BAM!!! Guess the fish were tired of the wind too cause there they were! It wasn't hot and heavy like yesterday but we managed two limits in a few hours. I'd call that a good day for a post-front, windy day!

I've got a few days next week still open if anybody wants to go out.

Great job Paul! I was thinking to myself this morning hope the weather man is wrong cuz its no fun for you to drive 35 miles to your office and then too windy to fish and have to drive another 35 miles home. A tough way to make a living. But glad it turned out great for a brutal windy day!! I was outside doing car mentainence and it felt cold!!

I think you are liking this winter fishing stuff grin thumb

BTW, I kinda ejoyed fishing in the rain yesterday and everyone on the boat had a good time as well. It doesnt feel cold at all when the catching and conversations are good and diet milks were being served. lol.

I made sure to clean it up real nice today. I'm just now getting done paying for mike to get that sandbass fin outta his ______. Talk about a serious faux pas! Y'all could at least keep the festivities confined to the water...
