I was getting ready to order some of these jigheads and thought I might have read on here that Yum had copied the design of these jigs from a small Texas company. I am not completely certain I am remembering this exactly right but if that is the case I would rather buy from the original maker who did the work to develope it rather than just copying it. Am I remembering this right and if so who is the original maker of this type of jighead?

Watched Edwin Evers use it on the Bass Pros the other day. I was impressed and that doesn't happen very often.

Xcite Baits made the original power shakey head in the X-lock jig head. The pumpkin-ed looks to be a very good copy of the x-lock. Guys around Kentucky lake and other ledge lakes have been using it since it has come out. Xcite baits was flattered to be copied by one of the big companys. Edwin even ordered the original sometime back before yum came out with their version. Xcite baits is very thankful for the customers they have and the support they have shown Xcite baits over the past few years. Lloyd at Xcite is a good guy trying to make products that catch fish and being a smaller company stuff like this is going to happen when you come out with a great product like the X-lock.

Cantcatch5-

You are correct that you had seen that a Texas company had poured those first... Edwin bought those jigs and plastics from Xcite in 2009, and claimed on tv that he had hand poured them, and lo and behold, yum is mass producing them shortly thereafter. One would think that a pro who is supposed to hold himself to a higher standard wouldnt do so, but I suppose if you are representing a company that can't be innovative enough to hold its own, then you might be willing to do some underhanded stuff to keep your sponsorship money flowing. These Texas companies that are innovative and continue to produce new baits should be supported, and should not have their products copied by others, but unfortunately it still happens because the mass producers that have their [censored] made in china arent innovative enough to come up with the next quality product want to steal someone else's hard work. Thank you for wanting to buy the original, and best product. And no, I am in no way affiliated with Xcite, I just hate to see someone get screwed by a bigger company.

These are big shakey head jigs. I just saw the episode of Bass Pros with Edwin Evers and I wasn't impressed. I've been using a heavy shakey head and a hefty finesse worm on structure for a while.

You know what I am liking more and more? Getting the original, and not some product that is popular because of a TV show.

Jason, you will have a blast with the Xlocks. I have caught some really good fish on them here at Amistad. Putting the Maximus trick worm on it is a wicked combo. Thanks for getting the original and not that knockoff flush.

Anybody having a problem with these not standing up your worms? I have mixed feelings about this one. Sometimes it stands up and sometimes it doesn't. Seems like I have to keep hopping it to keep it up (no pun intended). Is that the way you need to work it? Short hops on taut line?

I have a lot of luck with stroking it off the bottom. A lot of bites come on the initial fall or as its falling back to the bottom.

Hey folks try www.paydirtcustomjigs.com, the jig heads can be custom ordered with your favorite hook and has a stainless spring that will not throw your baits
We use these combined with excite 10" raptor worm or craw with a lot of success

Try a Hags Undertaker, they float well on jigs.

May I suggest the ones I make. Can promise they were not copied and have been around a lot longer than the ones being mentioned. Do them in 1/8 oz all the way to 3/4 oz. State record Oklahoma Smallie was just caught on the 1/4 oz one I make.
