Hey guys...went inshore fishing w/a buddy who had a Shimano Chronarch. Was very impressed by how smooth and effortlessly you could cast a great distance and wanted to pick one up for myself however, when looking online I noticed that there is about $100 dollar difference between the "E" series and "D" series...my questions are a) What is the $100 difference? b) Are those differences WORTH $100 or will the "E" series do just as good? and c) Are there any other reels of this caliber but not as quite as pricy as I am sure that some of that $$$ is paying for the "Shimano" name. Thanks guys for your help! Also, I remember reading something on this thread about new Chronarch's being nothing more that re-worked Curado's (or something like that) but with a Chronarch price tag...am I correct in this?

The D series is well worth the $100 difference. Its a great reel. You are correct in that the "New" Chronarch E is not much, if any, different than the curado E series.

You can't go wrong with a Chronarch 100d7 and you would be able to resell for a nice price as well.

You can get the D series around the trading forum for a great price of you don't mind used items. They are a phenominal reel.

If you're asking these questions, you'd probably be just as happy with a Curado E or even G vs. The Chronarch E/D anyway.

The Chronarch D is a lot better reel than the E.

Don't reel guilty about spending the money for the "shimano name". The value of Shimano reels is the standard by which most other reels are judged.

It's Daiwa that you have to watch out for here depending on the reel... bolt
